The Washington Capitals open the first round of the playoffs against the New York Rangers, who won the Presidents’ Trophy as the team with the most points in the regular season, on Sunday afternoon at Madison Square Garden. The Capitals slipped into the playoffs as the eighth seed with a win over the Philadelphia Flyers in Game 82 — the first time in 16 years, since the first year Alex Ovechkin made the playoffs, that it came down to the wire for Washington.

After Game 1 on Sunday at 3 p.m. Eastern, Game 2 is set for Tuesday at 7 p.m. The series picks back up at Capital One Arena on Friday at 7 p.m., then Game 4 will be Sunday at 8 p.m.

All four games will be on Monumental Sports Network in addition to the national broadcasts. ESPN has Games 1 and 2, while TNT has Game 3 and Game 4 will be on TBS.

Here’s what to know — and what to keep an eye on — as the series gets underway: [https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2024/04/20/rangers-capitals-what-to-watch-stanley-cup-playoffs/?utm_campaign=wp_main&utm_medium=social&utm_source=reddit.com](https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2024/04/20/rangers-capitals-what-to-watch-stanley-cup-playoffs/?utm_campaign=wp_main&utm_medium=social&utm_source=reddit.com)
