This teams P.P. has always been to pass to the super stars. 102.5 DVE even made a song about "Shoot the Puck," yet this team constantly unerperforms on the power play.
They should've let Jarry test the market. He wouldn't have come close to the deal he got.
Jarry's number before January are top 5 it's after January when Jarry falls apart. Just look at his number before and after. If only he could put it all together.
Dubas sucks. He signed Jarry. He got Matt Murray in Toronto.
DK, I agree with most of what you’re saving about Jarry but, I don’t agree with your assessment of his quality of taking away the lower half of the net. As a goalie, Jarry’s play style is extremely peculiar. His odd methods of making saves down low is from him being one of the least flexible goalies in the league. I believe that’s why he struggles so badly when he’s off of his angles a touch because he just can’t get to pucks that other dynamic goalies can get to. He has one of the, if not the most narrow butterfly in the league. In my mind he’s a very one dimensional goaltender and he will never raise his game to an elite level for an entire season let alone a playoff run. I know we were spoiled having MAF look so fluid while he was making ridiculous athletic saves stretching out from post to post but, Jarry is so far in the other direction it’s a complete hindrance to his game.
""Swooping vulture!" LOL
I like your assessment of Jarry. He always seems to need competition to get to the next level. I'm guessing that's how he overtook Murray. No need to stand on your toes, no need to collect the puck.
Sometimes you need a player, say a Tim Kerr type for us old-timers, to plant themselves in front of the goalie and make like a New Jersey obstruction.
