[Kane] Thank you Red Wings, my teammates, coaches and all the fans of Hockey Town for welcoming me and my family with open arms this season. This past year gave us memories we’ll never forget. The work doesn’t stop. #LGRW

  1. Patrick, question, when you say the work doesn’t stop…

    Does that mean in Detroit?

  2. 6xLeverage

this feels like a farewell tweet until the last line. what the hell does this mean

  3. Danengel32

Going to be a whole lot of over analysis into this tweet haha

Kaner shoulda been a lawyer, dudes got a way with ambiguity

  5. Yup

Sounds like he is more than willing to come back

    But…

    For the right price.

He seems like an OK guy, but with a nickname like Showtime, he knows he can be the bees knees here in Detroit.

He is the one player on the team, that when skating on a breakaway with the puck you just know he’s going to score. I do not feel this way about any other Red Wings player at the moment, so I hope he decides to stay.

Everything says it’s a farewell message… until u get to the last line. One hell of a rollercoaster of emotions in 10 seconds lmao.

Hopefully he stays, even if we give him one or two years too much I think his presence is so invaluable it might be worth it.

I feel like I’m in 6th grade and I’m trying to figure out if the girl in my class likes me too.

Kane vs. Yzerman in negotiations sounds like a great matchup.

    What are we, Patrick?

I thought to myself “should he stay or should he go?” Now I have that stupid song in my head, thanks Kaner.

Serious question, if we have the exact same roster minus Showtime do we make the playoffs next year? That’s a hard no for me

My bet is Kane is back in winged wheel next season.

  14. Brutallist

I named my dog after him he better come back or I won’t be able to look at my dog

Part of me keeps wondering if he goes back to Chicago to finish his career where he started. They have Bedard, will be drafting another high end young player. Be there for them as the Vet in the room and go out with the team who will build a statue of you someday.

The other part of me really fucking wants him back.

To quote Jim Lahey: “He’s playing sexy hard ball”

  17. Frosty_Fun_6478

Only can use the lgrw hash tag if youre staying. See you this fall Pat.

I would rather not pay him then overpay him personally. Obviously not a GM but if he’s wanting too much i wouldn’t lose sleep letting him go

I’m know in the minority here but…. I don’t think the Wings should bring him back. They don’t need him. They need guys who actually play defense.

    Fwiw…
    Red Wings w/o Kane:
    18-14
    Average goals forth: 3.5
    GA: 2.88

    Red Wings with Kane:
    23-27
    GF: 3.32
    GA: 3.64

I get it.. “he’s a PPG player!” The team still averaged slightly more goals without him, and almost a full goal against more with him. It’s not all his fault, but it’s clear they don’t need him. Take that money and spend it on guys who play in their own zone. Get Sprong out of there too. He’s even worse. Team D is what cost this team, not their lack of scoring.
