The game misconduct was the correct call. This kind of play happens all the time in the NHL but it just happens that this time someone was injured. Not a dirty play, but an illegal one. There is a difference.

@DzekoSucks Phaneuf def didn't turtle. The refs were between them before kassian recovered anyway…but if they didn't, then phaneuf would have to fight him. You can't throw hits like that and then not answer the bell. Especially a captain. That would look pretty bad…calling kassian a plug is a joke too. he did turn into it a bit but it seemed like phaneuf was anticipating him turning more sideways instead of back towards the boards. either way the call is fine, not a dirty play just hard to judge in the split second and he made the wrong choice.
