This is the wrong topic but I want to hear your opinion on Forsfjäll's hit on Beck in the juniors
I both do and do not understand why the call became what it did, being a relatively good hit in some ways.
However, as a ref-in-training I must say, even though I'm a swede, it was ridiculous to leave it as "no penalty". Yeah sure, the hit is not that powerful, but Forsfjäll did watch Beck's numbers the whole way, plus he made most of the contact in an awkward part of Beck's body, as well as being in that no-go distance from the boards. As I said, there wasn't too much power or anything, but the speed was relatively fast and the way Forsfjäll kind of almost searched for Beck's number should be a penalty automatically, at least that is what I've been told as a soon-to-be ref.
My first reaction when looking at the replays was "100% 5 + game" but the swedish TV "expert" said "maximum 2 min, bla bla bla". Not gonna lie, I did become a bit angry and annoyed at the refs decision.
I got to give kudos to both teams. The Canucks have been on fire and they'll definitely be a playoff team this year. On the other hand, I fully expected the Flyers to tank and Torts is actually coaching these guys into becoming a competitive hockey team. It's pretty impressive to watch.
I'm a Flyers fan and I am pleasantly surprised by how they're doing. My only concern now though is that I wanted them to do a rebuild after last year, and GM Briere seemed to be trying to go that route as well. Now that the Flyers are playing as well as they are I don't know what they're going to do. Do they continue to try to rebuild in spite of their success or do they ride it and hope for a playoff run. I think they need to rebuild and start from scratch because I don't want to be doing this in one year and out the next thing with no cups to show for it anymore.
Nucks have been mediocre against top 15 teams this season. It will be interesting to see if they will be pretenders or contenders by the time the season is done.
Egor vs. Yegor, the "confusion" is because the Russian Cyrillic letter is E just as in the Roman alphabet, but it's pronounced "ye". There's another letter, which looks like a round, backwards E, that is pronounced "e" (as in "met").
Amazing to be at this game expecting a loss from the Canucks but it was the Flyers who jumped on the board to get 3 late in the second. I got worried once the Nucks scored 25 sec into the third but Philly harvested great effort this game
Comment here from a 58 year old guy that talks hockey with a 30 year old guy at work about carbon fiber VS wooden sticks. This shot at 29 seconds could never happen with a wood stick.
regarding the name which "varies from website to website" – the variant "Yegor" would not be pronounced Yeegor (as you said it), but Yegor (the same as Egor, but with the Y sound – the vowel E should not change its sound when the Y is added. The same as in the word "yes").
I would say that it's because he is from Russia (or other country using Cyrilic alphabet), and the letter E in that alphabet has the "Ye" sound in the beginning of the words. So when transliterating to latin alphabet, one can see E and think "it's also E in latin" and somebody else can see E and know that it's actually pronouces as "ye", so transliterates it as such.
The same can happen with other names, such as (Y)evgeni Malkin (I suppose the fact that it's literally just the Russian variant of the name Eugene played a role to keep it without the Y, but he is also pronounced Yevgeni). Or the town Yekaterinburg (you can check the google map, they have it in both languages, and it starts with just the E in Russian, but Ye… in latin) etc…
Further diversion deep 🙂 similar (but different) thing happens when transliterating from Greek – their letter Epsilon (Ε ε) is transliterated as "He" to latin e.g. the words related to the Greece itself (Hellenic, Hellas,…) come from the words that start with just the letter E in greek
I've been a flyers fan for years and i'm honestly shocked at this performance they've been putting on this year. I knew it was going to be a rebuild year and like many other flyers fans I was sad to see Giroux go but man this team this year is thriving and I really think it's all do to torts and Daniel Brière. They're doing a great job together rebuilding this team and i'm excited to see what they can do in the playoffs.
It pains me to say this, as a Kraken fan, but I think this may be a preview of the Stanley Cup Finals. It's honestly a nice change of pace, even if we can make it into the playoffs, and the rivalry with the Canucks does start in earnest this year.
Flyers are young, fast, two solid goalies, plus Couturier, and Atkinson have returned from injuries. Coach of the year Tortorella has them Flying to the playoffs. They are exciting to watch, and they fight for the puck the entire game.

This was painful to watch all at once. Massive L as a Canucks fan
lol what’s with all the horny bots in these comments?
Also, 126 seconds? Pfff. Stars did it in 15.
I didn't expect Vancouver and Philadelphia to make the playoffs before this season started lol now look at them.

What is your opinion about it?

I dont know how they keep doing it especially when thier PP is just horrendous, but i am loving it “LET’S GO FLYERS”
Crazy that this gets a video but not the sharks vs. red wings 8 goal 2nd period
Not really a huge fan of the new 1 minute videos tbh, quality ist still pretty good but I don't understand why they're so damn short now lol

Good to see Vancouver playing like vancouver

You should shit on the rangers sometime…
Dam pretty cool, now imagine if a team could do it in 13 seconds? Would be wild but probly impossible 😂

The Vancouver Canucks Are Good.
"left due to dehydration"
damn that quaxxxine doesn't let you rev them RPM's…LOL. Took the bait, don't you know it's coming from a Hook? LOL
I liked Bluegar when he was a golden knight

Was he dehydrated from the being sick?
Otherwise..how the hell does this happen in the year 2023?
As a flyers fan I didn’t think that they even had a chance at making the playoff and somehow they’re second in their own division
Flyers are 2nd in the Metro and the Penguins are 2nd from the bottom. What a fabulous time to be an NHL fan.
"Yegor" is the phonetic way of writing "Егор". That's how his name is pronounced
His name is Egor but it's pronounced Yegor and the emphasis is on the O yegOr. Hope that helps!
Is you’re. Voice ok? If it isn’t don’t rush getting videos out for us
Orange and the black. The orange and the black

Strange video
I’m a big Philly hater but I got to say I’m pretty impressed by the turn around the Flyers have pulled off
The room is buying what Torts is selling. Show up to work play your nards off and play smart systematic hockey and you will win games.
Eck hates the Canucks 😂
I have more faith in my Coyotes 😏😂

Last week the Stars won a game in less than 15 seconds. Went from looking like 0 to 2 points in the standings.

So weird seeing Sean scoring in the NHL xD went to school with him
Yegor Zamula 🏴
Егор Замула 🇷🇺
E = Ye
г = g
о = o
р = r
З = Z
а = a
м = m
у = u
л = l
а = a
Yegor is correct, not Egor.
Ya, ye, yo, yu = Я, е, ё, ю
I know my Russian Cyrillic.
