This is definitely a BS rumor. Backstrom had never been petty like this and has no reason to be right now

The page even says that Backstrom denied this being the truth. It’s like believing Spittin Chiclets saying that Crosby being traded to Colorado as inside information when in reality they’re throwing out fan conspiracies.

The guys love Carbs, no chance this is true

  4. I highly doubt this. AFAIK hip resurfacing has been a career ending surgery for 100% of NHL players who received one. We all knew two years ago when he went for the surgery that he would never be the same and would likely be forced to retire.

Backstrom is the most talented player to get this surgery so we hoped he could be the exception, but despite his valiant effort it seems that it is just too severe of an injury to compete in the NHL with.

I actually heard something about this back when he announced he was stepping away. Buddy knows someone in a higher up monumental role. The rumor was backstrom wanted more playing time but carbery couldn’t give it to him (because of his injury, speed, etc). So backstrom said if I’m not good enough than I’m not playing at all.

Doesn’t really seem like a conflict with coach but a facing reality moment. And it’s absolutely because of the injury
