Andrew Copp’s 3PTS Leads Detroit Over the New York Rangers | The Red Wings Hold a Playoff Spot!

With 7 wins in their last 8 games the Detroit Red Wings are now tied for the 2nd wild card spot in the Eastern Conference. Andrew Copp had a hell of a game, his best as a Red Wings, as his 3 points propelled Detroit to a 4-1 win over the New York Rangers. Filip Zadina scored the game winner on a feed from Dylan Larkin, and Ville Husso was unreal. #lgrw

  1. Good to know Verlander is still playing hockey… haha. Just giving you a hard time Brian, always appreciate the podcast. Good luck to Scotty with getting his power back on, mine is estimated to come back on sunday as well! Stay warm guys!

  2. The next 6 games in 9 nights stretch is brutal. They may not play Cup contenders, except for Tampa, but 4 road games, and 2 back-to-backs, i mean that's an awful schedule. If they can come out of this stretch with 6 or 7 pts, I think they'll be in the hunt until the end.

So this problem of having 13 forwards who deserve to play will help in the next 6 games. You can rotate some players to have a new energized guy in the lineup every other game. Hellberg probably needs to play 2 of these games too. Actually, depending on what Yzerman does until the TD, I'd have 14 forwards on the roster. I'd waive either Hagg, Oesterle or Lindstrom when Raymond comes back. They can afford losing one of them. Lindstrom is probably the only one who might get picked by another team because of his age.

You can rotate forwards like Vrana, Kubalik, Sundqvist and Berggren in-and-out of the lineup depending on the opponant. And yes, I'd keep Zadina in. He's doing so many things right now.

  3. I think this team actually has a ton of playoff experience. Fabbri, Sundqvist, Perron, Vrana have a cup and Maatta has 2. Chiarot played in the finals 2 years ago, Copp in conference finals last year.

Just think about teams like the Maple Leafs, other than O'Reilly who they just acquired I don't think anyone else has a cup and almost all of them haven't even seen the second round.

  4. I’ll be the first to admit that I would’ve NEVER believed at the beginning of the season that at some point this year, we would even be talking about playoff contention. So impressed with the wings thus far, a lot of players stepping up big time

  5. Yep folks go to Sam’s club .. specifically the one in Lexington Kentucky and get your built bars … stop in and see the forklift with the red wings logo on it too annnd help make my bonus check large lol go wings

  6. One thing that might potentially warrant concern from me is that we’ve been on this heater largely without Raymond. On one hand you could say putting him in would only make us better, but with the way this team is structured it worries me that guys who have been clicking so far (Suter, Zadina, Copp this game, Rasmussen) will have their groove interrupted. Much to consider, much to hope for. LGRW indeed!!

  7. The wings are going to be playing a lot of hockey from here on out. I think they have 3 back to backs coming up within a two week span starting in Ottawa. It is good to have games in hand, but it is a bit of a doubled edged sword considering how condensed the schedule is now.

  8. Without Burgers the team is less solid. He has a relatively unrecognized calming, centering effect which is a net loss compared to Many other players who were on the ice yesterday. Also, what was going on with Bert? He did not look good 🙁

  9. I don't think I've ever seen a heat map like that Wings one. Basically 1 or 2 shots beyond the hash marks and everything else in close?? That's the quality vs quantity that has us winning with so "few" shot attempts lately! And they're usually coming off good passing too!

  10. zadina got scratched and immediately scored in his next game back. im calling bergy does the same

  11. We just set a franchise record per Ken Daniels on the broadcast with eight consecutive games with 25 or fewer shots…and we’ve won seven of those.

Also, totally agree this was Copp’s best game. This is what I needed to see to get off his back and I’m super relieved it was in fact just a slow recovery from the surgery.

  12. Stevie's job is getting harder? Can he resist adding to this team? Oh, Congrat's Brian, your boy Zadina had a BIG goal for us.! Let's hope it continues.

  13. Stevie's job is getting harder. Can he resist adding to this team? Should he resist? Oh, Congrat's Brian, your boy Zadina had a HUGE goal for us! Let's hope it continues. The stars are aligning! Saturday's lineup, who sits if Raymond is ready to retuun? Lots of questions as the excitement builds for the Bolts game Saturday night.

  14. The team’s recent success can be directly related to the growth we are seeing in some young players. Particularly Seider and Rasmussen.

Brian, the game was 4-1. Obviously the 5 on 5 Corsi is going to be slanted. Please keep context in mind!

Disappointed to see Sundvqist in the lineup over Berggren (and over Zadina the other day) Does Oscar have some nude photos of Uncle Fester or what?
