The Anaheim Ducks have not had a captain since Captain Ryan Getzlaf retired, becoming one of five teams without a captain along with the Buffalo Sabres, Chicago Blackhawks, Seattle Kraken and the Utah Hockey club. But that seems to be coming to an end as GM Pat Verbeek said the Ducks are likely to name a captain before next season. In this video I look at who could be the next captain of the Anaheim Ducks…Radko Gudas, Troy Terry, Mason McTavish or Trevor Zegras?

Question, do you believe that Vatrano could or could not fill the captain role? I was surprised you didn’t mention him at all.
I’m always impressed by Frank Vatrano’s attitude. He wears his heart on his sleeve, he never takes a shift off, lead the team in goals, and had a nod from the league as an all star. I think he should definitely be in contention for an “A”.

Gudas I think will leave when his contract is up, so no. To me, Zegras makes sense. Personality, charisma, grit. I would give him the nod.
I agree with you all of these could be captain but gudas is number one for me because he can have a good shoot and a big hit exactly what a captain needs
As much as i love zegras he is way to irresponsible to be named captain and he doesn't try hard enough if its gonna be a young guy it should be mctavish
I like Terry. Singed for while, one of the top scorers and even tempered…which is good when dealing with refs that don't like west coast teams.

Gudas is a great pick but you will have to extend his contract- We also need Scott Niedermeyer as HEAD COACH !!!
Zegras will never be a captain for the ducks. I know you like him a lot but realistically captain material
I think Tampa will move on from Stamkos if they get knocked out in the first round. He could be our next captain if we sign him.

I could be off base by a long shot here but I reckon terrys lack of performance may be due to him becoming a father and struggling with managing his career and family life especially with a baby
I doubt it would be Zegras. If they make Gudas captain, I think its because theyre preparing Leo. Otherwise, McTavish makes sense.
For me, in 3 years I'd like to see Leo with the C and McTavish, Zegras, Minty, Terry and maybe even Cutter or our next pick rotating with the A assuming they become huge assets.
