Cool. But there’s an entire hockey team surrounding marner that also didn’t do anything. Are we just gonna not talk about that?

This isn’t a mitch manner issue like it isnt a diamond. It’s a leafs franchise issue. Period.

  2. Gear4Vegito

Pathetic and Unacceptable are very accurate words.

  3. Finally someone on TV said it. Marner has been awful
    all series long.

  4. Master_Republic_144

Marner isn’t playing well, but I wonder if Biz realizes that it isn’t a diamond PK, it’s a completely different system

  5. postmodern_lasagna

Literally league min Robertson could be the top guy better than that, I’ve seen it, holy.

  6. Football_Fantatic

You know it’s bad when even the American broadcasters are calling you out.

  7. I literally was screaming into the void for Keefe to sit Marner back in game 3.

I got [my post thumbed down](https://www.reddit.com/r/leafs/s/HfPL7rwz8g) about complaining about Marner’s softness after game 2.
Yes, we just won the game so everyone was in the mood to defend Marner. But I saw it right away, he wasn’t playing up to his potential. He needs to not be elevated to the first line immediately. He’s still a decent player, but we need to stop treating him likes he’s an 11m player cause he’s playing closer to a $4m player.

  9. Biz is 100% right. Players are banged up around this time of year and play through a variety of injuries. What’s the excuse for his shit play in previous playoff failures?

  10. Experttom

Wow I’ve been saying this shit for 5 years finally

First clip, Marner can skate further along the boards into the zone and change his angle of attack instead of peeling away, especially since he’s drawing 2 Bruins’ attention… even if Lybushkin’s pass could have been better. But of course that would invite physical contact from the Bruins’ player and that’s a no-no.

Second clip he gets his feet knocked under him and trips. Simple as that. A nothing burger.

Third clip is another nothing burger. He’s reaching with the stick because the Leafs’ backcheck was not there on that rush, something that arose from the LAST shift.

The PK shift is certainly him roaming but why isn’t Samsonov being criticized for going down early and neutering himself? Marner could have tied up the Bruin in front of the net though.

All in all, a 5/10 in clip selection that seemed more predatory than it did informative.

Blows my mind that there’s still people defending Marner. Absolutely pathetic Hockey player

  13. 403DonOChron

gOOfy team. Bunch of princesses. Toronto needs to build a different culture

  14. Old_Canuck

This EXACTLY WHY you pay people AFTER they have won something and not before.

  15. Heelsbythebridge

How would any team want Marner after seeing him disappear year after year in the playoffs at that price tag?

  16. One of the best bits I ever heard. Was 2 years ago when Marner got carjacked and the Queensway Cineplex was that he wouldn’t have been there if they had made it out of the first round

  17. james-HIMself

You bench him to send a message in the locker room. At this point Plank from Ed Ed and Eddy would be a better option than Marner. Hope he figures it out for game 5.

  18. xtzferocity

How can you justify a raise for this guy? Can’t even hit 100 pts.

  19. lukaskywalker

Love him getting all the hate. Guy is a fucking joke. Tell him he’s getting fourth line minutes. No power play next year unless he waived his nmc.

  20. TiredReader87

Marner got paid. That’s all he cares about. He doesn’t have to win.

they should do one for willy too

was just as bad if not worse last night

  22. brownmagician

He doesn’t deserve the money he’s earning and his salary has done a lot to hurt this roster. I’ve flip flopped on a ton of things but always always have been consistent on this view

  23. Francis33

Marners had over an Hour and 26 minutes of Ice Time this series

    He has 7 shots.

This is Mitch Marner every single playoffs. He is super highly skilled and a fantastic playmaker but he has zero battle. When the games get tight he can’t fight through checks or make his own/find new space. Lots of soft players have great playoffs because they can either fight through a check (Nylander) or make their own space (Kane). Marner can’t do either. Marner excels when the games get silly, when there is lots of space. When games are low event and tight checking you get floppy Marner falling all over the place or forcing passes. And then you get the rare beast that is sulky Marner where the body language is poor and the otherwise excellent defensive game starts to go.
