A Canadian ultramarathoner managed to run for 60 hours through the cold, muddy hills of one of the toughest races in the world, but his triumph ended with heartbreak and a disqualification.
Gary Robbins, of North Vancouver, B.C., was attempting to become the first Canadian to complete the notorious Barkley Marathons, a gruelling 60-hour race through the steep hills of Tennessee that only a handful of people have ever completed.

I would have started super kicking everyone
The most Canadien thing I’ve ever seen!!! 😅😅🇨🇦
Dang that opener, pour a bag of salt into the wound why don't you
So I guess I have participated in this event less than he yet completed this event just as much as he has. I'll wait for the news story to come out on me now.
He ran the longest sooo… he won in some way?
He got more attention for not finishing it on time.
The gave him a nickname 6 seconds loser 😂
Next time he'll shave off his beard for better aerodynamics
My guy was in the yamcha pose
That sounds likr the coolest marathon ever!
Bro turned into Yamcha
I had something like this happen to me except instead of a 60 hour marathon I was 20 minutes late before the close of the 7/11.
as a speedcuber, I would be just as sad if I missed cutoff by 6 seconds
"Canadian running magazine"
can you think of a possibly more boring magazine?
me before a deadline for an assignment worth 35%
basically we are celabrating failure. nice
skill issue
bro wasted his time
Shits tragic new patek
average canadian loser
He was about to win the superbowl but missed the fieldgoal.
If he would have been disqualified for going off course regardless of his time… why publish a story where the lead-in about his time? He wasn't 6 seconds late for anything, he went the wrong way – period.
Fire those wondering:
No one in ultra running respects this guy. Gary Robbins is a known self promoter and liar. His ultra resume is WELL below average. This is a perfect example. The guy didn’t miss it by 6 seconds. He missed it by taking the wrong trail, coming back from the wrong direction and yea, just happened to get back to the gate 6 seconds after all this nonsense.
Gary Robbins is a POS. Ultra community better without him
He is a lot more punctual than the stupid train system where I live. I salute him. 🇨🇦
sucks to suck
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
the fact that he took that so well and did not need to resort to shouting, he had an incredible show of control and reign over his emotions (I will admit if I was in that position, wrong turn or not, there would've been some voices raised) that was in of itself incredible!
If he had some Lips and Melanin, he would have made in plenty of time.
DNF is a part of racing.
He didnt even come in on the right trail lol
LOL, skill issue.
😂😂😂
There's always next year
Pain.
haha to bad
thats 100 miles, a marathon is 26.2
Whomp whomp
What did he eat and drink during all that time. This level of endurance is too hard for my brain to process
Ihor is gonna do it this year!!! And im gonna do it in the 10 years
He should've trained harder and not slack off to be 6 seconds faster. Now he is whining
Think of everyone else who finished on time: Who cares? This guy is literally last and gets all that fame!
He should have set his alarm half hr earlier…. you snooze u lose
Pedal
"Technically it's not really a finish at all"
Damm dude, no need to roast him like that
😂 humans
I just got level 95 crafting on runescape……
why he mad id take it as i beat it
Meanwhile i'm not even willing to use the energy to wash the dishes.
”Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.“
Proverbs 3:5-6 NIV
Isnt that stupid to call it a marathon ? Marathon is 42,195 km distance and only that distance…
