Stamkos has always felt extremely underrated to me and he's still performing, but no one talks about him really. If the Caps can center their entire team around Ovi chasing a record, surely they can give Stamkos a contract. Always knew the Panthers would take this, but thought it would go 6 or 7 games. Think it would have if a few calls went a different way. Was pretty tight in a few of the games.
Thanks for the memories SteStam
Torch has been passed maybe not to Florida but it has been passed on
Stamkos is a franchise player; he IS the face of the Lightning. I am not a Tampa fan, but I hope they do the right thing to honour the man that brought so much success and excitement to the fans, and the franchise.
Anyone stating that either goaltender interference call was wrong needs to ask themselves if it was your goalie getting bumped in the blue paint when the puck goes in would you not also expect it to be called back? You can not let some of those go by otherwise players will be on top of the goalies all the time and that's just not good for the game in general. both instances tonight had players making contact with the goalie in the blue paint. In neither instance was there pushing. They were the correct calls, and if it was your team you would agree.
Hopefully not a guy who does one season with another team and everybody says, oh yeah, i forgot he was with them
Crazy how fast things change, back to back cup champs to back to back first round exits in just a few short years.
What do you mean probably, you are a joke the goalie is limited where they can play the Puck. So when a forward steps.on a glove or turns directly into a goalie that's interference, just the same as if the Goalie Billy Smith's everyone that skates by his crease. So if this is not goalie interference, then neither is skating through a goalie behind the net playing a puck. You front runner whiners can't have it both ways . Ever since Dallas stole a cup through crease violations the blue paint has shrunk and whiners like you have bravely announced their ignorance. So let Goalies chop ankles, slash backs of knees and clip a skate to send a bet crasher sprawling, let's take the gloves off and let Goalies Be Net minders again…Bob Killed the Twinklers curse . Now it's on to the teddy bears and then the Canes , yeah the Canes cus the slow footed strangers don't have a chance even with their Mong
Goaltenders can just push out of their crease and trip themselves on players at this point, treated like butterflies, this is the playoffs… that outside crease should be contested, rat refs & league.
I like hockey.
Steven for Mitch lighting?
Florida having hockey in general is lame. Hope they both fold one day. Wishful thinking
Fighting through a screen? In both replays, Bob's stick was kicked out of his hand…lol
Stamkos could be better elsewhere. Why waist energy in a team getting old when he could instead jump into the Panthers train. He might get to drink some Cup Juice while Nikita Kucherov, Sergachev, Vasilevskiy and the rest of the team finish like the Penguins or the BlackHawks. Reliving past memories of when they tasted the cup in their 30 million dollar mansion while eating popcorn and chips and slowly getting fat like Charlie from the Whale movie. Therefore, Stamkos needs to go.
Hopefully he comes back to us ! He played his heart out ⚡️⚡️
No one cares
Unpopular opinion. This might be the end for Jon Cooper as head coach.
Ticky tack interference calls. Hard to stay alive against cup contenders when the refs take away any momentum you have.
An era nobody wanted or cared about.
I at least thought Tampa Bay made more of a playoff effort than Toronto is in these playoffs.
As a bolts fan of 22 years (that I am old enough to remember), I really feel like Kucherov might have cost this team at least a game 6 if not maybe even a game 7. It felt throughout this series, but especially in game 5, that Kucherov's "decision" to chase 100 assists* may have had an impact on his goal scoring. Several times especially in game 5 he had rush opportunities that old Kuch would've blasted at the net but instead he would spin, hesitate, force a pass, and then turn the puck over. The few times he did actually shoot he missed excellent shots from the slot and down low in the circle which has always been his sweet spot. It looked like that choice* to focus on assists may have at least made it easier for FLA to blanket him and led to him getting frustrating much easier and ultimately having a goalless series. I also feel like Kucherov's antics both after the cup wins and the whole all-star competition, did paint the TBL organization in a bit of a negative light. All of that being said, I do think Stamkos returns on a very team-friendly deal so he can stay in Tampa until retirement. However, purely based on value to the organization and leadership, if Tampa can't find a way to resign Stamkos I'd rather sell off Kucherov and then look for some better fwd and def depth to make Stamkos' return worthwhile. Likely an unpopular opinion, but Kuch does have a 10-team no trade and considering his antics and behavior I really wouldn't be surprised if he waived it anyway. He is seemingly more focused on stardom than winning as a team.
** chasing 100 assists: The stat line eludes it is at least a possibility… before February he would frequently have multi-goal and multi-assist games and averaged around 6.5 SOG per game. After Februrary his goal scoring dropped to single goal games and only recorded a single multi-goal game (2 goals) after he added a hat trick in mid January. His SOG also dropped, averaging around 3 SOG with numerous single shot games in that post-January stretch. Meanwhile, his assist production obviously skyrocketed with 19 multi-assist games in the last 40 games, when he only had 9 in the first half of the season.
TLDR- The stats would show Kucherov focused on assists in the 2nd half of the season, sacrificing his shot in the process which MAY have made it easier for FLA to hold him goalless in the series and led to lots of frustrations and missed shots from the lightning's top producer. IMO someone so focused on their own stardom has no space to call themselves a leader in this organization.
I mean, what do they really expect people to do.
You’re standing in front of the net screening the goalie and the defenseman instead of trying to move you out of the way just keeps pushing you into the goalie.
5 goals in 4 games as a Toronto fan I wonder what its like to have your core produce post season. Id be alright with the losses if they could just put the fucking puck in the net.
Tampa had a fantastic run. Arguably the best overall team in the last 10 years. However their time has come and they need to inject young blood into the organization. Guys like Stamkos and Hedman have to go and retool from Vasi, Kuch, Serg and Point as your core
Although we've come to the end of the road, still I can't let go. It's unnatural; you belong to me, I belong to you.
Any see kuch's fall 30 seconds in? 😅
I guess we have to get a cup now.
Florida brutalized Tampa this series
Stammer should get a contract until the end of his career.
Stammer is going to Detroit 😮
Where was kucherov at all???
I just dont think the lightning can sustain another cup run unless theres some hefty changes
I hope a deal happens and he retires in Tampa. I graduated high school June 1st of 2004 and 6 days later I was outside the arena with thousands of fans watching game 7 against Calgary on the parking deck wall via a projector. It was awesome. Took a while to get back to the finals and even longer to win again but the core of Hedman, Stamkos, Kucherov, and Vasi have been so much fun to watch the last 10 years. Nothing lasts forever but I really want to see Stamkos retire a Bolt, it hurt too much seeing St. Louis and Lecavalier leave.
Me from the goonies cave.
It’s our time! It’s our time down here!
As a panthers fan I’d love to see Stammer Time in red and white. A class act for sure.
The Lightning have had a culture of domination in their play for the past DECADE. LOL. Till the Panthers win a cup and SUSTAIN that level of dominance for as long, the torch has not been passed. The Bolts are getting older and might have lost some power but they are still a team to not take lightly. From a fan of NEITHER team I love seeing this battle.
Dallas will replace Pavelski with Stamkos
Seen!Sign Stamkos. He’s kind of useless 5v5 and is more of a pure offensive player at this point… While I’m certain Tampa doesn’t want to let him walk, they need to get him back at the right price
We’ve seen how legacy contracts can hamper teams (Ovi, Malkin, Letang)… The Lightning honesty need depth more than they need Stamkos shot, especially if that shot costs north of 6 mil (which it probably will considering he’s coming off a 40 goal regular season and a strong postseason… despite the points, Stammer is clearly in decline)
So the calls were ifsy even though they were by the letter of the law….riiiight.
In back to back seasons the Panthers are responsible for the last games of Patrice Bergeron and maybe Steven Stamkos
Stamkos has the scariest slapshot in these playoff teams. Still.
Florida dominated the game. In the 3rd, Tampa did nothing for the first 7 minutes, when they need to go and score
come to buffalo stammer……..we need you
I think Stamkos stays at $4 million per year for a 5 year deal but this team needs to move money out if they wanna compete for a cup. They proved that they have no bottom 6 depth in these playoffs or much defensive depth either beyond Sergachev hedman and Raddysh
tb had their three year run. Just an older first round flame out now with no draft capital next few drafts.
Panthers done by game 5.
As a Bolts fan, I'm just glad I was able to witness a decade of dominance and success. 4 cup finals with this core, including 2 championships. I'll take that over anything that comes our way now. I rest easy knowing that this team brought home the hardware necessary to prove that they were one of the greatest runs in the salary cap era
