  1. Swayman deserves so much better. So sad that he keeps getting left out to dry, even when he keeps them in games they have no business winning. Also so nice of the Leafs fans to cheer for him! 😊

  2. Skinner got a shutout oilers . Boston playing with bricks in their skates… night and day comparison to the early series game. Almost seems scripted and force game 7 Wake the hell up Boston

  3. the reason why this series could be done is because the leafs unlocked the ingredient to beating boston.

boston is an elite defensive team and they have elite goaltending. but they do not have anywhere near an elite offence. their 5 on 5 numbers are not good at all.

so how do you break boston's elite team defensive structure? you're not going to do it going straight up against them. you have to induce boston into a high tempo up and down game.

the leafs started to get much more aggressive with their defenceman in the offensive zone. they started pinching and supporting more. the defenceman started stepping up more. but the leaf forwards are covering the pinching defencemen, which has the added benefit of the leafs having a ton of motion going on on the ice also.

now if the pinch doesn't work, but a forward is supporting the pincher, then you have a winger and defenceman back. boston would then try to counter and take advantage of the situation. however, if boston doesn't score on the ensuing rush, then they are probably going to have 1 or 2 guys stuck deep in the leafs zone and instead of 5 defenders (team defence), boston will only have 3 guys back, and now the leafs will counter bostons counter and up and down the ice they go.

boston cannot win that sort of game against the leafs.

the problem for the leafs is this: are they going to stick to this playstyle?

this is a playstyle you use when your back is against the wall and you have nothing to lose. but this is how the leafs should always play. if you have an offensive team, then employ an offensive system and just go with it. through the first 4 games the leafs were trying to play a "responsible" game. the defenders were sagging off in the offensive zone and they were playing very conservatively. hopefully they will just go with this approach in game 7 and beyond if they win.

  4. It’s funny how you defended Lindholm literally three games ago but now he’s looking like literally the worst player on the Bruins defense. He literally turns the puck over every five seconds like that svechnikov hit last year paralyzed him and he’s never been the same player since. Every time he gets the puck he panics he’s making 6.5 million for six more years. He better be putting up points and right now he’s putting up negative points by how bad he’s playing. I can’t blame him, but he is overwhelming with how bad he’s played the whole series. I don’t care what you say. Bruins top six is the biggest issue. They need to step up and start scoring.

  5. I hope you're wrong about Jim Montgomery. I don't see this as his fault…. I'm not really sure what has happened to the Bruins, other than Toronto finally woke up

  6. After the Nylander goal NESN was almost exclusively talking about an uncalled penalty on the play. Should it have been called yeah were the Bruins paying at all whatsoever no not at all

  7. The difference this year, ALL the pressure is on the Bruins. Everyone counted the leafs out, and the bruins blowing a 3-1 first round series again, people are def getting fired

  8. Here we go again. This was always the way it was going to go. One team is going to screw it up. Either another 3-1 blown lead by Boston or another Game 7 disaster from the Leafs. It looks good for the Leafs since they have started severely outplaying Boston (though their PP is still garbage). If they can do the same thing for a third time in a row they'll do it. But if Boston decides to start putting shots on net before the second period you never know.

Also I'm fine with leaving the board 2-0. It's the most pointless goal in hockey. 1 second left in a game they were down by multiple goals. Too bad for Woll, but I'm sure he doesn't really care.

Will say this is why Nylander is more valuable than Marner. He can put pucks in the net in the playoffs.

  9. When Boston does extend Jeremy Swayman I hope they are smart enough not to give him the Binnington treatment

The dumbest thing the Blues did or could have done was giving Jordan Binnington a 6-year $6M contract

I say this as a huge Binny fan and defender

To me even if we wanted to go 6yrs you should have been a 6-year $18M contract at best

Put some performance bonuses in for extra money….sure

  10. Honestly what I see from last year and this year in the playoffs is that the Bruins lack the ability to adapt long term while the opponents made some proper changes and figured out how to get past them – last night the leafs were so aggressive on the back check they just didn’t let anything get to the net and the B’s couldn’t think of another way to get the puck to the net other than dumping it in and hoping for the best. In a 3 game series the Bruins are one of the best teams in the league, but when givent the opportunity to learn the Bruins in a 7 game series they just look like wet tissue paper. Swayman is really the only reason the games have been as close as they have.

  11. Why people assume "lack of heart" in such cases? Human psychology works in peculiar ways. I feel it's like saying "you don't really want " to depressed person. Did The Leafs lacked hearts at the start of series and now miraculously found them? No, they didn't change overnight , they just react in certain ways to development of situation. If they don't handle pressure well enough that's one thing. To assume they don't really try, judging just from what we can see is stupid and shortsighted, in my opinion.

  12. Oilers/Kings game 4 is the only shutout (1-0) of the playoffs so far.

Because if there was only gonna be one, that's totally the series we all expected it to happen in.

  13. Toronto has been better, and if they play 4 lines and positionally well, forecheck, they will win easily.

  14. Oh please I remember 2013… this is the same song and dance. Leafs will go up 4-1 in the 3rd only to blow it with 10 min left.

  15. I don't often get MAD at the Bruins, I'm usually just sad an depressed. This game enraged me. I was YELLING. I learned that my hockey stick is stronger than my driveway. The Bruins look dead and disinterested; at least last year they looked like they wanted to play past game 7, the collapse was entirely on Monty last season

And the collapse this season is absolutely on Monty again, following a regular season where the Bruins blew every. single. third. period. lead. they. had.

  16. Yardbarker: "Another Toronto Game 7 loss to Boston and another first-round exit would be another unacceptable result. But even with all of that on the line, the pressure still seems like it is firmly on the Bruins, especially as Toronto plays these games without Matthews."
