  1. Blake actually played very well during this match, but it was against Federer, and it was 2006šŸ˜‚. A year where he reigned like a Titan.

  2. Poor Blake, he played some powerful strokes that would've defeated most top class players but Federer had an answer for everything and could defend and attack with such elegant ease. No wonder Blake was exasperated.

  3. "What do you do? You can see the despair on Blake's face!" Epic commentary šŸ˜‚āœŒļø

  4. You can see Federer laughing a little bit after that rip snorter of a backhand at 2:35. Even he feels sorry for Blake that he's got no chance.

  5. Never grow tired of watching this. Surely one of the greatest match that federer had. I initially thought the backhand of ao 2017 would be his top performance, but, man, his backhand here against blake was something else. So many winners from behind the baseline. I understand just how frustated blake was, because he really didn't play bad, it's just federer was at his really best day.

  6. On a fast hard court, no one is beating this Federer period. Anyone who thinks otherwise can kiss my ass.

  7. Really?!

    You're not gonna include Federer's half-volley baseline flick winner at 6-0 1-1?

I mean… Who edited this 'highlights' video?!

  8. Some shots were amazing but this match was also evidence of the weak opposition during some of these years

  9. Little trip down memory lane, watched all of it live when it happend, Blake was one of those unlucky guys who had to go against greatest player ever in his prime, Blake tried everything left he's soul on court, Federer on other hand come in that final streight from even better semifinal match against prime Nadal, it was pretty much lights out for every man that season, only Nadal put up resistance.

  10. Tho he essentially didnā€™t have to, Djokovic never reached this level of offensive domination and humiliation/toying.

  11. The highlights don't give Blake justice. He was a tremendous player and no pushover at all. And in fact he played a great match here. He was absolutely firing everything back, no holding back.
But Federer… well he played his best tennis ever on that day.

  12. Listen to the commentator at 1:00. This is in 2006. Long before he broke the old Sampras majors record. And here's the commentator, confidently stating that Federer is someone who "lifted the sport to a new level of excellence". True greatness isn't in statistics. It's felt when witnessed. As early as 2004, Federer was considered by many the greatest to ever play. That's how much better than anyone who'd come before he played back then.
This was the peak of tennis.
