  1. Edvinsson will be interesting next year. I think he could easily slot next to Seider by midseason but I they'll likely focus on improving the 2nd pair to take some pressure off Seider. Its also important to note Edvinsson has been asked to be more defensive minded so his offensive game may just be on the shelf. I'd say Seider was in a similar situation this year where he had to be responsible defensively first.

Edvinsson-Seider sounds great, but Edvinsson-ASP in a couple of years sounds great, too.

  2. Edvinsson and Seider are going to play the shutdown role for years and ASP with Walman could be dynamic. Behind them are no less than 4 prospects who could be NHL players. The D should be solid for years.

  3. I agree with your assessment. But i believe it would be a mistake if our coaching staff makes Seider and Edvinsson back off their offensive game. I believe there could be a balanced approach. But LaLonde wants to try to replicate Tampa. I just dont see us replicating Tampa. We can borrow some plays and techniques. But we need guys like Seider and especially Edvinsson to jump in offensively.
Edit: I still believe we need to resign Ghost. He put up 56 points. We need that production on the blue line.

  4. If there are any stud defenseman available. Stevie please add more defense ,a Forward and maybe a goalie. Or at least until Cossa is ready. Keep Kane if possible or promote offensive young forwards in AHL Grand Rapids. Move on from Rasmussen, Fabri, Holl, Czarnik. Perron. It would be great if Simon started won AHL Cup with the Griffins and made the starting rotation next season 🙏👁️🚨

  5. Simon is learning and practicing what he has learned. Concentrating on becoming a better D man. When he puts together, and he will, what he is learning with what he has done, he will be terrific. That will come sometime next season, which will be a breakout for him. He looked so good in that last stretch of games with the Wings, and you could see his progression every game. It will be more work, but more fun for him, next season. LGRW 🏒

  6. Edvinsson should be up with the Wings full time next season, though I wouldn’t be shocked if he starts in GR again.

They will probably put him on the second pair and give him a veteran to play next to. He would get too many minutes if he plays next to Seider, and he wouldn’t get enough minutes if he is on the third pair.

So the trick will be who they can pair him with on the second d pair. I’m not sure an ideal partner for him is currently on the team. That’s an issue.

  7. I think the top two pairing could be:

    Seider – Walman
Edvinsson – Gostisbere (Assuming we re-sign him) – If not, maybe Sandin-Pelikka
