Jeff Paterson goes through different musings from Canucks practice at UBC on Monday May 6th. Line combos, goalies that were on the ice, who was on the powerplay units, who was working with different skills coaches, then some quotes from the Head Coach and some of the players! It’s a real solid read and gets you primed for the Canucks upcoming battle with the Oilers!

Much needed work on the power play considering we’ve only had 6 minutes and 4 seconds of powerplay time combined the last 3 games. Special teams will be huge against the Oilers.
hopefully our powerplay steps up.…
Good article.
I like Tochs explanation of their low shot counts.
>‘Let’s face it, the best defence is having the puck. So we like to hold on to pucks. That’s why you have to move your feet, that’s why you have to win battles, you have to keep the puck. You can’t throw pucks away, you can’t stand still. They thrive on that stuff. You have to make them stop and play defence. They like to play on the move. Even a shot down the wing, a bad angle shot and you miss the net, is not a good play. I know around here everybody talks about ‘shots, shots, shots.’ If it’s not a good shot, don’t take it. I don’t care about the shot clock. I want to keep the puck. You throw a shot at the net – a high hard one – it goes wide, McDavid just picks it up and is gone. That’s a strategy for us. You can not throw stupid shots at the net and miss the net.’
You can tell Lindholm has a lot of experience playing match up role against mcD. This is going to be a huge advantage when it comes to shutting him down because we know Miller can play that role as well. It will be tougher on the road but these two first games are so important in letting the Oilers know McDavid isn’t going to be able to do what he wants, when he and Draisaitl are frustrated it shows, and their whole team feels it.
Really like the assessment by Zadorov. That’s exactly how the Oilers feast on teams.
