I mean in four appearances he gets a cup and one year gets bounced by a stacked Colorado who goes on to win. Also St Louis started to age out once they won in 19.
No idea if he is gonna be leading the Leafs to the promised land. But he’s probably the best coach available, and this team needs a different look behind the bench. A different voice. Keefe has been great in the regular season but everything about this team is stale.

If Keefe go swept in 4 of the 5 first round losses we have with him, but went and won the cup in the other year, I’m sure we would be okay with that Lmaoo

I was curious how you can go 2-7 in the playoffs. But turns out 3 losses in the seeding round during the year we lost to Columbus, then losing 4-2 to Vancouver in the first round.
This year we lost to the worst first round team we’ve played (excluding Columbus, and Montreal), and I think that team is worse than any team St Louis lost to. Maybe Vancouver is close? Not sold on Berube but I am definitely intrigued
Edit: forgot MTL

I’m hoping Tampa is dumb enough to fire Cooper

The hype is because he isn’t Keefe. Not sure if he is better but I think people just want different at this point.

I think the hype is because of who else is or rather isn’t available. Who else could we get? My dream is Brind’amour and Carolina get swept into him losing his job and we can somehow scoop him up! But again, he just isn’t available right now. Who else is out there? Woodcroft? McLellan? Galant? None of them jump out at me as a great option.

The thing about coaches is even if the coach may be worse in terms of X’s and O’s (which isn’t Berube’s strong suit) a big part of their job is motivation which is up Berube’s alley.
You may hire a coach that is objectively worse but that may not always matter because of the psychological change it may bring. That’s why teams usually see a boost in performance after a new coach is hired.
