The first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs has come to a close and as Frank said last week on the podcast, it was one of the least exciting first rounds we’ve seen in a while. There were only two series that went the distance and a handful ended in five games or earlier.
While the first round wasn’t exactly eye-popping, it’s looking like the second round could be exactly that. Every matchup has some intriguing storylines behind it and there are some juggernaut matchups. Frank and Jason worked their way through the four series and talked about the key factors in each one.
The Rangers are already up 1-0 on the Canes and that’s a series that could very easily go to seven games. The other Eastern series features a rested Panthers team going up against a Bruins team that just finished off the Leafs on Saturday night. Can the Bruins get revenge for last season?
Before getting to the West, Tyler swung by for a new edition of Fill in the Blank, brought to you by Wendys. He asked the guys a couple of questions about round two and one about what the Leafs need to prioritize this summer.
They then got into the two Western series. The Avs and Stars is going to be a grind and is another one that seems destined for seven. We also have an all-Canadian matchup between the Vancouver and Edmonton, which could lead to some serious fireworks both on the ice and online.
They wrapped up the pdocast with some talk about what the Maple Leafs and Golden Knights will have to do this summer.

wow you guys suck okay we will be the underdogs we will beat Carolina in 5 or 6 games watch bc we are better when we are underdogs
I’m sorry but Demko isn’t going to come back. And if he does he won’t be close to 100% and would be risking further injury
Frank didn't remember what was known at the time as "Ed Whitson disease". NYC is too big for some ppl, but because theres so much else here, most competitors adjust to living here. The atmodphere in TOR is different because bt comparison it/s a one horse town, so it becomes a fishbowl.
Everyone have been counting the Canucks out all year long. It was they will slow down after the 20 game mark. Then it was they will fall off by the half way mark. Then it was they won’t win the pacific. Then it was Nashville will beat them and now it’s oilers in 5. But we love being the underdogs let’s get this going
The continued disrespect against the Avs is insane. Every show I listen to like this is always the same garbage. "Dallas has depth, Dallas has goal tending, Colorado is a one line show." Are you clowns even watching the same hockey? Winnipeg was seen as the deepest team in the West, or at the very least the 2nd deepest team, with the best defense AND goal tending, and Colorado COMPLETELY undressed them. It wasn't close. The Avs goal tending was better (outside of game 1). The Avs depth was WAY better. The Avs top guys were better. The only reason that series went 5 is because Giorgiev had an extremely rough first game.
Meanwhile Dallas managed to struggle against the 8th seed Knights, who barely scooted into the playoffs, and looked atrocious for MOST of that series against Dallas. Yes VGK were the defending champs, but they didn't look ANYTHING like last years team, and it was obvious in that series.
You got Frank and his fellow clown taking Dallas, Elliot Friedman, etc etc all taking Dallas, as if the Avs first round display didn't even happen lol. I sincerely hope the Avs win, not only because they are the better team, but so that I can come back here in two weeks and absolutely shit on you guys for being the idiots you are.
You guys Suck
Frank is bitter on the Avs cause he was so wrong on the Jets series😆
I gave this podcast a chance because I like Frank, but his co-host is such an obnoxious idiot I don't think I can do this anymore.
Panthers in 5 boys? Ouch! I mean…a big ouch for the Panthers who got smacked around by a well-oiled and much better coached Bruins Team…
??? again another "pundit" with a totally bizarre take that suggests they didn't watch the games or look a the stat sheet. Even without a lot of offence in the van/nash series… THREE canucks have more even strength points than Mcd or Drais. They didn't have balanced scoring???? Again.. compared to edmonton.. really. The canucks offence was way more spread out in the rd1 series than the oilers. The oilers aren't a 1 line team.. they are a 1pp unit team. 5on5 their numbers fucking suck and their bottom six are all a negative.
