As a goalie and a goaltender coach, I can tell you that I’ve seen it enough times and “taking it easy” isn’t really possible.
When you tell a player they’re having a light practice: they won’t skate hard, there’s no contact, they just get a feel for the ice and finding out what they’re capable of doing. Which is perfect, that’s exactly what we want from a player coming back from injury.
With a goalie, it doesn’t matter. Once they strap on those pads then they’re doing everything they can to get in front of that puck.
Again, I’m a goaltender and I know exactly how frustrating goaltenders can be.
