Haven’t seen this here yet, but apparently the Pens have chosen give up this year’s 1st.

I don’t think they had a choice outside the top 10

If Carolina makes the Final, they’ll actually get that one.

The pick was top 10 protected. Meaning the pick needed to be #10 or higher for the Penguins to have the option of keeping the pick. Anything later than #10 and it’s automatically forfeited

  4. The pick was top ten protected, meaning if the Penguins picked 10th or higher we got to keep the pick and San Jose got our 2025 1st round pick.

I believe if the Penguins got a top ten pick, they could have chosen to give it to San Jose to keep next seasons draft pick but I’m not entirely sure if that’s the case or not.

Is what it is, we’re trying to win now,

In hindsight didn’t really work out to well but we w’re all pretty excited at the time so whatever, onwards and upwards

I’m rather okay with this. If we stunk next season and that pick was even higher than if we had taken our Top 10 pick we would all be kicking ourselves, especially if it was Top 3 (this one could only go up to 4). It is what it is, we go again in October. We have I think 2 second rounders, so not awful, but not helpful in the immediate. Neither would the 14th pick either, to be fair.

Funniest thing is that Penguins is win now mode 😂

I’m not mad cuz EK but watch pick 14 go on to be a 40 goal scorer or something.
