Are the Canucks being disrespected as big underdogs?

The Canucks are pegged at +215 on FanDuel to win their series against the Oilers despite holding home-ice advantage. TSN Hockey analyst Bruce Boudreau weighs in on if Vancouver is being disrespected as big underdogs.

  1. Come on Bruce. It sounds like you are hurting from past experiences. Of course an opponent will not lay down and die. The question is can they stand the oilers pressure all over the ice.

  2. I don't remember the last time I saw a second round team this big of a betting underdog despite having home ice advantage. You'd think game one is starting tonight in Edmonton with the way all the pundits and bookies are talking.

  3. Edmonton fans are petrified after losing all 4 games to the Canucks in the regular season

Wait for the crying after the Canucks sweep the series and go 8-0 for the year

  4. Oilers Fan here – 100% agree with this take. Canucks are scary good this year. The only people I see underestimating the Canucks are the media. The rest of us understand how good the Canucks are.

  5. Oilers are the favorite sure but the whole media landscape and the league is treating this as if Oilers are playing the Sharks.

The amount of disrespect is staggering.

  6. Quinn takes it personally when he’s underestimated. So as Canucks fan, Quinn, you’re not as good as people say you are. Now go out and destroy.

  7. Their own fans dont even have faith in them, Canucks fans are only wannabe fans you only like them when there winning. Where where fans last year, the year before and the year before that. All of you gave up, now as an Oiler fan thats what got us 5 stanley cups and who care if it was in the 80's we still won you know why cause were not wagon jumpers.

  8. The only ones disrespecting the Canucks as big underdogs ironically are TSN reporters. Oilers fans aren't puffing their chest out like Canuck fans are. But talk is cheap, time to play.

  9. Canucks and Oilers should both feel very proud that they made the playoffs at all.

I just think it would be funnier if Vancouver lost cause the fanbase has been so annoyingly pleased with themselves all year.

  10. I think it’s a perfect series and have always found the ‘mismatch on paper’ narrative confusing. Both teams have rock solid PK’s and while Vancouver’s PP has struggled — Edmonton was flying at 45% over five games.

Does anyone(!) think that figure is sustainable in the playoffs?

  11. The idea that Edmonton is going to walk away with this is 100% made up by the media.
It's almost like either way the story is already written. Oilers win= see we told you VS Canucks win = underdogs win.
No one in the Oilers of Canucks organization thinks it will be an easy ride.

  12. Boudreau is talking in a way like he’s still coaching the Canucks, and I agree with him. Let’s get real, the Kings were an easy matchup for the Oilers. Poorly coached team with good talent, but decent goaltending. Canucks are better coached in Tocchet, and overall have a better team than the Kings. Canucks just beat a very tough goalie in Juuse Saros!

  13. Bruce is being biased. Additionally, that final game of the year Vancouver and more to lose than Edmonton. if Edmonton would’ve came back and got ahead of Vancouver after being 20 to 30 points behind them to win the Pacific that would’ve been embarrassing.
