Hosted annually in St. Louis and produced by the St. Louis Sports Commission, the National Sportsmanship Awards honored the best sportsmanship stories, moments and people of the past year. The event showcased extraordinary examples of class and character by athletes, coaches and sports personalities from across the country. Representing all levels of sports — pro, college, high school and youth — award recipients were recognized for their integrity, selflessness, kindness, and perseverance.
The National Sportsmanship Awards were renamed as the Musial Awards in 2012. To learn more about the event, visit MusialAwards.com.

I wrestled in highschool for a program that had no money, many kids with only one parent and a tight athletics budget, but we were damn good. I remember out of state tournaments where we slept in the gym on the mats the night before because we couldn't afford a hotel. It's really moving to me that these parents got together and treated their rivals like their own kids.
