  1. I'm leaning towards the Avs in this series, but Georgiev has to keep playing consistently well. They need to minimize the turn overs and defend well against the Stars transition game. If Dallas can keep Avs to the outside and effectively block shots, passing lanes, and clog up the neutral zone, like they did against Vegas, they will win.

  2. Nice analysis. I would have liked to have heard more talk about special teams because I think that PP and PK are going to be as important in this series as it was in the VGK/DAL series. The Pietrangelo penalty that precipitated the GWG in game five pretty much put Dallas in a position where it was their series to lose and they didn't.

  3. Good luck to the stars, they'll need it. About to be hit by an avalanche. Seguin, Benn and the rest of the old slowsters no match for the speed and skill of the avs. No matter who plays goal for who. Dallas barely scoring 2 goals a game vs Veg.

  4. As electric as the Avs were against Winnipeg they just had no answer for them. They let them glide thru zones and virtually do whatever they pleased. Got into a track meet and couldn’t keep up. I think my boys in green will make this series physical, slow them down and keep things tight. If roope, Pavs, Seguin and Duchene can start some offensive production we have a real shot. It’s gonna be a hell of a series, rn Colorado looks like the best team. But also, Winnipeg was truly bad.

  5. Surprised no one has talked about coaching. Pete Deboer has the Avs number. As a long time Avs fan, his smarts scare me more than anything on the ice. He's beaten them twice in game 7 with two different teams. He seems to have a very successful way of slowing them down.

  6. I think once you start to break down the entire series– you start to see who has the edge & where they MIGHT have it. But there's a small handful of things that you can't break down. Or you can't measure. Or determine. And "most" of those variables go in the Av's favor, IMO. Therefore, I think IF Colorado is able to forecheck consistently, amp up their speed & find ways to put constant waves of pressure on Oettinger… they eventually break thru. And we've seen flashes of what happens once that begins~

On the flip side… The Stars are a Texas sized beast in their own right. I believe they gotta stay disciplined in their own zone… get very VERY physical with the forwards on Colorado… and try NOT to rely on Oettinger to win it for them. Instead, remember what got them this far in the 1st place. Play together as a team! Something Winnipeg clearly forgot to do.

Overall? Gonna be a thing of pure beauty! Colorado wants to play with a fast & furious style. Quick passes, superior skating, & constant pressure put on from the forwards. Dallas? The opposite! They want to slow things down, control the puck, and keep the Avs playing defense instead of offense by playing with a verrry physical & punishing style

Avs over the Stars in 6

  7. This will be another great series. Taking out the LVGK was great but took a toll. Hoping Stars 🌟 take it in seven.

  8. So let me get this straight. The avalanche absolutely face rolled the Winnipeg Jets who were widely considered by most 'analysts' to be not only the deepest team in the West but also the best defensive team with the best goaltending.

Meanwhile the Dallas Stars barely squeaked out a win against the 8th seed Golden knights who barely squeaked into the playoffs and have been playing pretty lousy hockey almost all year long which continued into the playoffs. Yes they are the defending cup champs but you cannot tell me that the team looked anything like what they did last year.

And yet given the results of these two series you have all these wannabe analysts and YouTubers taking Dallas over the avalanche in this series lol. The disrespect against the avalanche is unreal.

  9. Well if history does indeed repeat itself then this series will either be a beatdown in 5 with the avs taking it, or dallas will grind out a win in 7. That sounds about right to me. If the avs can wear down the defense, which being against rolling 5 man d squad in the playoffs is attainable, they can smear this group. If Dallas can keep the avs playing close and tight games dallas could steal this one from the avs.

  10. Stars fan. A few things that could boil down the series:
    4th line vs 4th line
    Home Ice
    Goalie matchup
Coaching matchup the longer it goes
Can the stars hold the Avs speed to the edges and frustrate the Avs forwards?
Who makes that ONE back breaking mistake?
    Role players..
Having taken all of this into consideration, I’ve got Stars in 7 in OT! Think it’s going to be a CLASSIC series like series past! Good luck to both squads and may the best team win 👍🏼 #GoStars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

  11. Georgie didn't just play great the second half of the series, what are you talking about?
He played great through all 4 wins, which is 80% of the games. Only giving up 8 goals in those 4 games while scoring 22!!
You really tried to talk up the Stars as much as possible, but it sounded like you're just trying to convince yourself. It's obvious that you know the Avs will win.
Your ego just wouldn't let you go against your initial pick.

  12. Dallas didn't get much production from their superstars in round one. They'll need production from top to bottom in this round because Ott won't be able to lock down the Avs like he did with the Knights. Should be a good series.

  13. The Avs Stanley Cup team tolled the league. Last year they had so many injuries and were praying to have Landeskog back. This year they've retooled. Theyre still feeling it out but I'll take the team with Mackinnon and Makar.

  14. These teams are not equal in talent – not even really close. The Ads are definitely better in forwards, and so is the defense corps. Goalie I'd concede Dallas may have an edge, but it isn't as huge as made out by these guys – who led the NHL in wins? Right – Georgiev. The GAA and shots stopped metrics may not be great, but doesn't that really argue that he's a middle of the road goalie, playing on a great team. So overall, there really is not contest. I'm expecting another Gentleman's Sweep here for the Avs – Dallas is good enough to get 1 home win (game 2), but if they don't get that, it's "Katies bar the door'. Ava and Rangers in the Finals, and that will be the only real test for either team – Avs in 6 or 7.
