Bancroft has been done hard, but I can think of plenty of other players who have been done worse in the past 30 years. Cox, Siddons, Hodge, Law, etc

No leave him out he is a very experienced first class player at his peak. At 31 with 147 first class matches averaging 39 overall isn't going to improve at the next level. Only averages 26 from 18 innings at test level.
At his age and experience it's not going to move the needle at all if he is in or not. Ed cowan average 41 first class.
If you can't average 45 at state level you shouldn't be in the top 6 in any Australian team unless they are battling. Handscombs etc yes they deserve to be rewarded with a cap when best available. But it's just a stop gap until they have a look and the search continues.
