  1. Best pitcher in my generation. Maybe the best of all-time. Imagine how much better his W/L record would have been had he played for teams who consistently had winning records? He played many years on a bad Angels team.

  2. Danny Heep was a complete scumbag. His wife was a drunk bitch. Couldn't ask for a better 4,000th victim than that shithead.

  3. Put him on the Orioles or Reds in the 70's, or Yankees in the 80's, he wins 370 games. The teams he played for couldn't combine hitting and fielding. He led the NL in ERA in 1987, yet finished 8-16. The Angels in the 70's sucked while he was there (no hit, no field). The Astros could field, but couldn't hit. The Rangers could hit but couldn't field. Put him on the Orioles and he wins 25 games a season, each season (though his walk totals would have given Earl Weaver fits).

  4. I remember him as a Met. Worst trade they ever made – Ryan for Jim Fregosi. I even had his rookie card and gave all of my baseball cards (except my '68 Tom Seaver card, which I still have) to my next door neighbor when we moved in '73. I still kick myself for that.

  5. Nolan was unconscious. When you are Roger Clements hero, you the badest man on the mound. NO ONE will top his K mark. NO ONE!! His 7 no hitters say he was amazing. He was the best RIGHT handed pitcher I ever saw and I saw a few greats.

  6. I was at this game seated a few rows behind the Astros dugout. I’ll never forget the loud pop every time his fastball hit the catcher’s mitt. My all time favorite player.

  7. I was there!! Greatest live sports moment of my life, so far. Thanks Mr. Ryan for all you've done for baseball. Now let's beat those Phillies!!!!

  8. Class acts back then. If this would have happened today, there's be hip hop music playing, teammates would be running out on the field with their hats on backwards throwing water or whatever it is they throw today. The game has turned into a comic fest.
