  1. Specter is a hack. He was the main player in the hate the Canucks got nationally in 2011. He will take any chance he gets to slag on the Canucks and their fans. Complete Asshat

  2. This guy has been around for a while and he was one of the refs back when the Sedins were still playing during the Boston series. There was two articles on this ref if he was going to cost the Canucks the game. He has been terrible in every game he reffed against us.. I said against because he seemed to have a chip. Did not like Hughes coming up to him after McDavid obviously cut him. And a bunch of noncalls. Got upset with Zadorov. Pretty sure he was the ref who gave us 11 penalties to the other teams zero a few years back..Sure seems like this guy has a grudge or something.

  3. It also probably stems from past playoffs experiences when it comes to the officiating whenever the Canucks are involved. Of course it all started with Roger Nielson waving the white flag, to Brian Burke making comments about the Sedins not getting calls when they were being pushed around by the Hawks, to heck even the Stanley Cup finals against the Bruins where the officials were letting things go when again the Sedins were involved. So obviously the fans mindset are so fixated on the officiating when calls don't go the Canucks way.

  4. I believe that the NHL ordered the referee to favour the oilers to try their best to stretch the series to game 7. They can generate more money if the series gets longer. This all Canadian matchup is a huge market. They like to create rivalry to generate more views. That's my conspiracy lol.

Just look at NYR and Hurricane series today, PP for Hurricane at the end of the period, letting Hurricane win the game. Imagine NYR sweep Hurricane tonight and all of other series hasn't even play game 3 yet.

  5. Referee conspiracy.
    Sutherland for the Canucks.
Kozarski for the Oilers. Which started when McDavid asked to look upstairs in a shoot out goal a few years ago. Since then. He puts whistle away when an opposing player makes a infraction on McDavid.
The powerplays are 7-4 for the Canucks in the series. The Canucks are not saints. A lot of interference is happening in the neutral zone .
These are 2 good teams in the second round.
    Go aoilers Go

  6. Even without the calls or lack thereof I was thinking this game could go either way even when the canucks found another lead for 3-2. It doesnt help that the canucks barely took any shots in OT. The oilers were getting it to the net and happened to get a fluke goal off the defender. It was a well fought game but the canucks made 2 mistakes that cost them. Theres no guarantee that the game wouldve played out any better for them if they made the call on McDavid. Their powerplay has been pretty unsuccesful. It should have been called but Im not sure the game is rigged. I havent been watching Hockey for very long but the oilers winning certainly makes the series more interesting in my eyes. I HOPE it goes 7 games. This has the makings of a great rivalry.

  7. Lmao sh!ts gonna happen suck it up it supposed to be men out there, what's a lil scab. With a locker room name like 'huggy' sonsoft, no wonder they think there's a conspiracy. Pppfffttt.

  8. I want refs to be held accountable for poor performances to the same standard every coach and player is held to. Refs game management hurts the credibility of the league and opens up these discussions as each ref manages the game slightly differently. I think that there needs to be an off ice official as it has been shown time and time again that the transversal speed of hockey is to much for on ice officals to manage.

  9. Such a stupid, hacky article. I haven't even heard anything about a conspiracy; I've just heard people calling the refs a joke and saying that the officiating was terrible and ultimately went in the favour of Edmonton (different from calling conspiracy). But any fanbase is massive in the NHL, so when you have a game with officiating as bad as that, any fanbase is going to contain people who call conspiracy. Who the hell cares? Only in Vancouver does some soy boy have to go out and cry about people calling conspiracy about bad officiating. His ridiculous comment about Canucks fans ignoring calls that went our way doesn't even make sense, either. What are you talking about? I saw those, but I still think the game's officiating was horrible and I still think Edmonton had a huge advantage due to the refs. Every time I talk about those instances, I have to also bring up calls that went Edmonton's way? That makes no sense.

Such a content-free article written by who is clearly a hack journalist

  10. Im unsure there is a conspiracy but when your team goes 0-8 when 11 is on the ice in playoffs can that be pure conicidence. One thing i had heard once was that Kelly is harder on the canucks because he was born near vancouver and didnt want to seem like a homer so intentialnally or not he went harder the other direction which results in

A clean hit in a Minnesota series is Boarding when Daniel Sedin does it

Marchand punches sedin 6 times with his glove on and sedin says "are you going to call a penalty?" And sutherland says "I will" and calls 10 min misconduct on Sedin.

I dont think its a sistemic anti canuck bias league wide but i do believe refs are humans humans have bias sometimes until we get robotic AI refs that rely on sensors in sticks and pucks to determine penalties and can call every infraction regardless of who commits it we are going to see some level of missed calls on both sides.

Also there is money involved for the league and for owners etc who stand to benefit from longer series why do you think we play best of 7 for all four rounds now and not best of 5 in round 1 like they did back in the day.

Also the issue is that if you can sell a call and get your team an advantage without punishment or commit an infraction wirh no call and get your team an advantage why wouldnt you.

I believe rules should be written and FOLLOWED TO THE LETTER regardless of game 1 pre season or game 7 stanley cup final. But until there is a way to make that happen games like this are bound to occour from time to time.

    So the TLDR is
    No systemic conspiracy
    Humans do have biases
Until the rules can be called to the letter all season long the same in every game things like this will happen.

  11. You can tell the article writer has a massive bias against the Canucks when he complains about the Zadorov dive and doesn't mention that Zadorov gets cross checked after the whistle by a good 3 seconds and does that dive to illustrate the point…… no mention of that cross check at all….. only complains about the dive. Then the ref and Zdaddy have a good laugh over it because Z was only proving a point.

Nevermind the obvious Nurse boarding hit on Petterson which should have been 5 minutes, or the McD high stick on Hughes (guy was 3 feet from the puck, everyone could see it except the refs/linesmen) which should have been 4 minutes minimum…… but the Oilers were interfering all game without the ref calling a penalty (it's literally their entire game plan) to step in front of defenders that are covering the cycle and run into them so the Oiler with the puck can skate around everyone freely………and why did they do it? because the refs never called the Oilers players for interference.

The entire point of dump and chase hockey is to dump it in, skate around the defender and regain the puck…. Oilers in their cycling were basically moving sideways picking off defenders all night and not getting called for it…… which is why their cycles were a good 30 seconds to 2 minutes long sometimes as they skated in a circle around the outside until they got a pic

  12. I don’t believe that the NHL refs have any conspiracy toward the canucks. That being said around the NHL there are missed calls going around like this during the play offs. There for NHL25 should add a feature where missed calls happen because at this point. NHL24 refs are doing a better job then them in a whole in the real world

  13. To be fair there was a lot of missed calls both ways. Game one refs completely missed a call grabbing the puck and tossing it into the neutral zone in 3rd. Game 2 Missed high stick on Hyman, missed interference on McDavid, missed call in OT Foegle got cross checked in the neck, Missed embellishment on Boesser, missed embellishment on Zadorov, missed hit from behind/boarding against Janmark missed trip on Kane. Canucks had a missed high stick on Hughes, missed slew foot. Complain all we want but if you asking for both teams to get more PP’s be careful what you wish for.

  14. I gotta say as a Oilers fan, i dont mind losing to the Canucks or they win And if both teams are breaking the rules and high sticking or boarding, tripping ECT ECT ECT when its enforced but the refs were garbage both sides drew penalties and the refs acted like Helen Kellen

  15. You can say it how you want, you've probably only played video game hockey. In school I was both a player and a referee. I had to ref because the foster didn't want me to be better at sports than her favorite son. It's been 30 years since a Canadian team has won the cup. It's time

  16. You can always tell a real loser. They blame the officiating for their short comings. The Oilers dominated that game, especially the 3rd period. The McDavid high stick? How about the too many men on the ice during the Canucks 3rd goal?

  17. There is no conspiracy.
Sutherland just openly hates the Canucks. It's not a conspiracy if they're not trying to cover it up. He has been entirely honest about it.
Not only that, there is a set timeline where the rules change. They call more penalties in the first half of the season, fewer in the second half, and even fewer in the playoffs. It's not a conspiracy, it's not a secret, they just don't care about the rules and they're open about it.
But I don't care about officiating. I'm done caring about officiating. At this point, officials having zero comprehension of the game is just PART of the game, they're like environmental hazards. Making up for thier mistakes is part of the game.

The thing I'm concerned about is that even when the league goes back and looks at things like the blatant purposeful slash to Hughes' face, and the spear to Hoglanders groin, and the slewfoot, they don't hand out suspensions, not even the pathetic piddly fines they like to hand out. These things are 100% suspensions, and in the past they'd be charged with assault. I don't want to watch games where criminals are allowed to assault players on the ice.
And I don't want Vancouver to sink to their level. I'm terrified of this happening. If the Canucks start doing the same things, I will stop supporting hockey outright.
However, I'd be okay with fans that I don't know or care about going and returning the favor to all the people who do these things, and those who allow them to happen.
And if you're okay with this happening on the ice, and not okay with my last sentence, you need to spend some time in the time-out corner to think about that.

  18. It's interesting that a hockey channel has touched upon the idea of confirmation bias. People see what they want to see or what they already believe. They interpret the world through mental filters. All perspectives are subjective, limited, and depend upon opposing viewpoints. There is no objectivity. The very idea of it leads you down a rabbit hole, or on a wild goose chase.

  19. Canucks fans have spent the entire season beaking and now they can't deal with the fact they aren't the best team ever so they need to blame the refs. Refs suck all the time. Deal with it.

  20. I think the problem here is that teams should be allowed to file grievances towards refs which should trigger some sort of a review on the ref unfortunately in Bettman's NHL nothing will happen because when ever someone speaks out about the officiating they get fined. Refs are not impartial and in Kelly Sutherlands case is extremely biased there is no conspiracy here the guy legit always makes really bad calls when reffing a Canucks game.

  21. The NHL wants to push the Oilers to the finals at all costs. A trial similar to this one against the Canucs is not accidental and it is not the first time this season. There are many examples that speak in favor of this.

  22. If they called a straight game after roumd 2 Oilers would have 2 cups by now. Nothing to see here just playoff hockey, be better

  23. Ive got no skin in the game, as I don't like either one of these teams or their fans, see Vancouver rioting post SCF loss, and Edmonton Im a big baby hockey fan who gets 2 #1 overall picks and still sucks, but anyone who says missed calls on both sides is clearly biased. High stick cut is a 5 minute call, doesn't matter the ticky tack crap that wasnt called on both sides, that would've made a huge difference especially if mcdavid is off the ice for 5 minutes, plus hughes was absolutely mugged every play, mcdavid gets touched, falls and gets a call. I get he's the chosen one for the second most underperforming franchise in hockey, but the disrespect for hughes is ridiculous. Dude got high sticked, cut, and slewfooted and no call, at home no less. Im now rooting for Vancouver in spite of their terrible fans.

  24. The funny thing is that everyone was talking about how the refs were going to miss calls against the Canucks before the game even started. Then voilà, there it was. The NHL was asking for this by assigning Sutherland to this game.

  25. When the refs does his job and call all of the penalties to make it a 4 hour game, people then will say: "Can't the refs just let them play?"
    🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂😂
