Blame should be shared 1/3 by management, 1/3 by coaches, & 1/3 by players as all failed together. Since the coach is gone and more to follow, there needs to be someone in management to be gone and out of 21 players, 7 players need to be replaced.
You need Marner for a regular season to make the playoffs. The new coach has to figure out how to utilize Marner in the playoffs. You will not get the value you are looking for in a trade. Having said that, Marner should not make any more then what he is making now.
You guys are blowing smoke up the wrong teams, one, marner will not go to any of those teams and none of them want him, nothing against his skill but only a contender will want him, you going to have to redo a kessel trade which means you probably giving another team a stanley cup. the problem with comments always is never realize there are 32 teams with their own agenda, also bidding for free agents, cap problems, also needing starting goalie, 2nd other teams usually beat leafs in a trade, giving the leafs med staff lame ducks. [this post is a good example of that] also cruel comments belies no empathy, so can't put self in shoes of others, in this case marner and other teams. 1. no contender wants marner. 2. marner won't go to budget teams in rebuild, will go to US dollars and taxes, close to home. 3. leafs prefer teams not in their division. 1, 2 & 3 = Columbus. = Boon Jenner, a big #2 center/wing, same ON boy, goals and age as Marner. and Provorov (career average 30 assts & 27 +/- on a bad Phil team), same age as Marner. Columbus gets 100 pt player with Fantilli, Goudreau & Laine, and Werenski on D. main UFA targets Pesce & Talbot. = not a bad roster for any team in the cap era
