The Colorado Avalanche needed to come out and set the tone for Game 3 vs the Dallas Stars. They were pretty successful in doing that. But hockey is a funny game, and it was the Stars who had a 1-0 lead after the first.
Normally, that wouldn’t be a problem for the Avs. They have the talent and offensive ability to overcome deficits. They have done it all year. But Dallas would not allow that to happen. Sure the Avs tied it up in the 2nd, only to surrender another Dallas goal. Dallas then went into lock down mode and gave the Avs nothing.
So the question is, if the Avs change very little from game to game, is this series over?

pis s poor effort again from our "top"guys that first goal is on choochoo leaving the zone before we even had control that was his guy , i thought goaltending was our problem cleary not , fa cking rants mack and choo need to fa cking step it up big time they have been MIA this series ,just no effort , cant handle passes cant win battles cant make passes unreal ,im so mad right now i havnt looked but id be shocked if every goal against wasnt against our top line

Stars are outplaying the Avs, have a better team, better record, better goalie, and way more depth… this isn't a mistake… Stars should be up 3-0… We'll see how it plays out, but please show a bit more respect good sir.
Chris, what red team won 4 cups with a neutral zone trap? Btw, the Stars scored only 6 fewer goals in the reg season than the Avs and playoff winning hockey usually isn’t firewagon hockey. We found our legs tonight and had a better forcheck in first 40min and ran a great NZTrap in the 3rd. The Stars are deeper and today we played a great road game, worthy of more credit than you can muster, but it’s not over yet.. You should really be down 0-3.

Nothing special…simple game and still winning. They've scored first every game, never trailed in the entire series except for one second on the OT game winner in game one and have done a great job on the PK against that dangerous PP of the Avs. They are the #1 seed and are the top road team in the league so give the respect where it's deserved. The Stars have a lot to do with why the Avs are down 2-1 and without a lapse in the 3rd period of game 1 would be up 3-0. The Stars ain't the Jets. Win the next game and it's a series and all is well but to this point They've been outplayed period.
With how poorly Colorado was handling the puck in the third period, I was begging for them to take Georgiev out. I said, "Watch the Stars score two."

Im not even disappointed in the Avs, Vegas woke up a sleeping giant. This Stars team can absolutely beat the Rangers or Panthers. Dallas looks like they just took it easy in the regular season as well, totally different team.
Boring hockey is proof the Stars are dictating the game. It seems the Avs are getting frustrated with the tight defense and are trying to do too much.

You can only win a game if the team gives 100%. Only Georgiev played like that. In the end, Dallas wanted the win and got it. Where is the Avs team of the first round? At times, they seemed unimaginative and helpless. Obviously, Bednar cannot motivate this team any longer. In sports, every tenure of a coach comes one day to an end. Yesterday, we might have seen the beginning of the end of the Bednar era. He could not explain after the game why his team failed again, made the same dumb mistakes again, was unable to produce anything from the multiple power play chances. There was a coach who was speechless and had no idea how to fix it. All indications that a new beginning with a coach, who kicks asses after such a deplorable game, is probably necessary. This series in a way ended last night. The Avs will not recover from this failure. Ball Arena felt like a museum in major parts of the second period. I cannot understand why this team is unwilling to play a 60-minute game with 100% commitment and will to win.
When the playoffs start , as an Avs fan, there is always aprehension before each game as how to they will perform. It is much expected that they will perform well enough to win, or at least be competitive. In this series it's clear to me that Dallas is the better team. They are deeper with better goaltending. Better coached? Maybe. I am no longer aprehensive about the outcome of this series. I think it's clear who moves on and who doesn't. Pessimistic. Yes!

That keep in and slick pass to Stankoven for his first NHL playoff goals was ultra slick. And defensively Miro is a work horse. I want to see more of him with Tanev.
Embarrassing effort in the third period. Players gliding towards pucks and losing the race to Dallas players who came in from way behind them. It looked like they just didn't want to win.

Dallas is just playings defense just waiting for the Avs mistakes. They know Georgie will give up s breakaway goal and they know the Avs will make the mistakes.

Hi Stars fan here. At 3:24 in don't discredit your team for not doing enough. They tried everything they wanted to try. Stars have been underrated and overlooked all regular season. They are a "top 3" defense in the league for a reason. Stars played their game. Are you as frustrated as the team last night. Dallas defense is better than you are willing to say. Val N. tried but he got cancelled out by the Dallas defense. Otter is looking more and more like Calgary Jake from last year.

Dallas fan here. yall need help from your other lines. Your top line is scary when they are skating and moving. Dallas can run 4 lines and be effective. they are not trying to be flashy offensively, it seems like they are playing a counterattack type game Heck id argue our 4th line has been our best at establishing time in your zone and getting any kind of rush. they are doing it most consistently, the other lines are not establishing as frequently

We don't know if Bednar made adjustments or not. .. because the boys spent the 3rd falling down, chipping available pucks straight to Dallas players instead of controlling it and passing back to teammates ..
Puck control and skating were not there. Who knows what the adjustment was supposed to be.
