Soucy and McDavid should be suspended. Mcdavid for the 2 handed slash, Soucy for the cross check to the face in retaliation.

The Soucy one is weird. The crosscheck from Zadorov makes McDavids head drop down a bit. I don't think Soucy meant to get McDavid in the face.

Not an intentional cross-check to the face. McDavid was pushed from behind just as Soucy went in for a normal cross-check after a sissy slash to the leg by Connie. No suspension justified in any rational universe.
…And 2 handed slashes are dangerous, and slew foots are dangerous, and punching people in the face is dangerous…. Suspend those ones as well and I’ll be fine with Soucy’s suspension.
If McDavid can slash Hughes in the face without repercussion, why should Soucy get suspended. Is a slash in the face not dangerous?
If soucy gets suspended then Hyman should too, he cross checks zadorov in the face afterwards. If he doesn’t it’s just a mcdavid suspension, don’t touch the golden boy.
it was retaliatory…hardly the same as rielly. also, he did not target the face but rather the chest – but mcd slumped from the xcheck from behind and it went across face. also, player safety is a clown show.
McDavid is one of the dirtiest players on the ice. PERIOD.

Mcdavid not only has gotten away with 5 or 6 blatant penalties but also had a 2 handed slash back in soucy and he gets nothing! Not even a fine? OK I get it
If anyone was a bad boy on that play, it was Big Zed. Not gonna make any excuses here, as a Canucks fan, he did cross the line a bit last night. I just watched the actual footage from two good angles. The first crosscheck by Soucy was to the chest of McDavid (man up), I think in response to a chop. Then Soucy probably went for another shove but during that precise moment, 91 came in hot to nail McDavid in the numbers (do better, Big Zed) and Soucy's stick was now right there at face level. It's hard for me to blame Soucy 100% for something that involves additional factors. I dunno. Let the league badly sort it out. LOL.
We are debating what happend the crosscheck was chest high until zadorov crosscheck for one and mccrybaby has done enough to warrant more penalty calls on him and he 2 handed slashed soucy. Soucy was retaliating to that
lol there definitely is no standard of player safety at all. Soucy was aiming chest after mcdavids 2 handed chop, but Zadorovs check to the back drops him down. That said, the result is still a crosscheck to the face after the whistle. I expect a 1 game suspension.
If McDavid hadn't crumpled from the check from behind Soucy's check would have been in the chest. And what about the two handed slash from McJesus that instigated ALL OF THIS? Conner gets away with everything. See last game eh??
How about the spear on Hoglander last game? Is there going to be a suspension there? Thats intent to injure. Slewfoot on Hughes? Boarding call missed on Petterson? McDavid two hand slash? Gtfoh. Just because it’s McDavid NOW it’s a problem. Got it.

It was a cross check that hit him in the face because he was going down from a cross check to his back. Who was 8nvoved should NOT matter. One rule book for all.

Whatever. Player safety is a joke. McDavid and refs are a joke. So they suspend Soucy a game. He comes back in game five and you’ve given him reason to actually take the head off of someone.
I thumbs downed this because johnston seems to always be inl8ne with whatever the league wants. Never calls it l8ke it is. Are we getting a suspension on the spear to groin of hoglander?. How about mcdavid bear hugging a player as he tries to go around him or stick to face of hughes causeing a cut or 2 handed slash to soucy which initiated not only the soucy retaliating but the big Z crosscheck sticking up for teammate
If Morgan Reilly got 5 games for that half asses crosscheck to the head then this cross check deserves at least the same.
CJ downplaying McDavid instigating the whole thing..Zadorov got a $5000 fine and Soucy getting a phone hearing but McDavid get NOTHING? I know the severity by McDavid slash is not as severe but he gotta be fined as well if the Canucks players are the only one getting punished
