Sources say #mnwild’s Vladislav Firstov will be on unconditional waivers to today for purposes of contract termination.

This is obviously disappointing news. It appears he has no intention of playing NHL hockey with the Wild, which is crazy given the interview Firstov did with Russo less than a month ago.

It’s seems he had made it pretty obvious that he doesn’t want to play for this franchise. The short AHL stint was likely just a move pushed by his agent, to get some fresh eyes on him for a potential future signing.
I can’t speak to his character, but his tactics have been pretty questionable. It’s a shame they can’t find a way to trade him to at least get some value.
It’s real nice knowing that at any moment, our draft pick can just say “fuck you” and quit for possibly another team for FREE. At least he wasn’t a high value kinda guy.

There better be more to this story… there’s just no reason to give up his rights… He can stay on loan if he wants to be in the KHL.
I get that it’s a bummer that he just decided not to play for us or whatever, but is this kid even good? It’s not like his stats jump off the page
