Maybe theres a way to pry JGP away from the isles with some retained. Would be a great 3rd line center, and who doesnt love a hometown boy coming back home?
I could see a scenario where Korpisalo gets traded if salary is retained. He's looked pretty good in previous years, so if someone takes this season as an outlier, and can get him for 2 million a season, that can be alright for a backup who has shown flashes of being able to be a 1b. If a GM felt strongly enough that Korpisalo from 22-23 could make a comeback, I dont think it's impossible. We'd get a bag of pucks back and probably have to throw in another asset, though.
