With the benefit of hindsight Dubas apologists may have been onto something.

He wanted to move off one of the core (likely Marner) a year ago when he had 2 years left ok his contract an no NMC.

  2. It looks like all of these “apologists” are being constantly proven right… Marner apologists will be proven right too – he will go to another team and play out of his mind most likely.

Am I crazy for still defending all 3 of these guys.

Dubas might not have been the right fit for the Leafs, but he put the team in good spots to succeed.

Andersen i didnt even know was hated! Obviously injuries slowed him down and he ended up moving on as a FA, but its not like we chased him out of town like we are Marner right now

Marner i will also defend, but ill keep quiet on him for now since I agree he had a bad year (i think due to fighting injury more than anything)

  4. Dubas built a yearly 110 point team and trelivings signings dropped them to 100

    So…

(Granted nylander leveled up, but Tavares leveled down)

  5. Hm. So you’re saying it’s time for me to retreat into my gun lair like scarface. Then when the time comes:

SAY HELLO TO MY LIL FRIENDS

By friends I mean charts and graphs, as I have no friends

  6. Obviously the Andersen “apologists” have won. Overwhelmingly. He was bad for only 24 games. In Carolina he has been fantastic with +34 GSAA in 100ish games, on par with most elite goalies.

Letting go of Andersen turned out to be devastatingly bad

Granted he was just reaching likely dropoff age, so a bit tricky but, he only needed a 4.5×2

Just a bit more than mrazek, who wasn’t much younger

It was almost certain his true talent was still at least league average

  7. The marner defense is super solid but a lot of it is sort of the

    9 | 6

Thing where each side is focused on their own key element

The low confidence anxiety element seems to be the focus for most

Partly the traditional | non-traditional rift as usual too

I’m a Freddie Andersen *defender*, actually. There’s nothing to apologize for.

Who remembers the jake gardiner apologists?

  10. My marner apology has always been that his issue is between the ears. We saw how good he can be in his first Boston series… like best player on the ice most nights. This is speculation but it always seems like As soon as he gets some doubts and external pressure, he tries too hard and does too much and ends up doing nothing and looking lost

I don’t see that issue going away here and he needs to go for his own sake as well as the teams, but I think we’ll see how good he could have been for us when he’s on another team.

Dubas… everyone saying “just rumours” but like, those rumours didn’t come from Reddit. They came from insiders who know things they aren’t allowed or willing to disclose we know Dubas was shut down on some trades by shanahan and that he made a power move that effected his release. People in the know say he wanted to move marner and needed to get around Shanna to do it.

    What? lol

Dubas wanted to fire Keefe and shake up the core and Shanny fired him for it. And then the team regressed.

Andersen has rebounded massively since his time with the Leafs.

Where is the door to Robidas Island 🏝 ,?

    Shanahan apologists, represent?
He’s consistently shits the bed. Adds no value. Maybe the rot is coming from the top? Let’s spend less time in a circle jerk and go in a different direction.

    Shanahan OUT.

Seeing Freddy get rocked yesterday was quite depressing.
