Holmberg hit on Lohrei – A Deeper Dive Tough Call Review

There’s a great debate amongst Leafs fans and Bruins fans. Did Pontus Holmberg board Mason Lohrei or did Mason Lohrei hold Holmberg’s stick? It’s possible neither could be true.

  1. I think it's either 4 on 4 at best for Boston or a 5 on 4 PP for the Leafs.

I agree it was a light board, but the hold went on since almost behind the net. I don't mind the non call that happened, if Boston thought they deserved a powerplay they're out of their minds on that one.

  2. So if a player gets his neck or shoulder broken doesn't matter the
Guy pushed co held. He was trying to do damage. Go take a physics class.
If Marchand had done that you would be calling for his head.

  3. Boarding and Dangerous. Plain and simple. Anything else that happened and was not called does not change the fact that it was boarding.

  4. Maybe he couldn’t get his arm free causing him to be off balance. Its also a hit on the numbers so force doesn’t always apply. Holmberg just has to take his left hand off the stick and it would release. There is intent here. It should be two penalties plus a PP for the Bruins. If it was the other way around or Marchand doing this its 100 percent a suspension. But either way the Bruins lost this game because of them.

  5. 1:35 i would say the full extension would say he pushed him pretty forcefully. still probably a 4 on 4 play regardless though

  6. Dude… it is literally the definition of boarding and SUPER dangerous. It’s unreal that it’s gone unpenalized, even after the game.

  7. Ref's arm should have gone up as soon as he saw Lohrei holding the stick. He fell into the boards due to his own stupidity. If he had let go of the stick, he could have maintained balance.

  8. Lorei held onto Holmbergs stick for a solid 3 seconds and took himself off balance in the process. Not Holmbergs fault when Holmberg goes to push him and he drops from poor foot placement.
