  1. Mannn if Freddy Andersen makes the saves he's supposed to (the first two goals against) they are going to Game 7

  2. Hurricanes fan since the Whaler days in the mid 90s. They have to roll it back as much as possible. I know they have a lot of players to sign and have around $31M including the $4M raise over the summer. They have to sign Guentzel. Coming off a $6M contract, he's worth well north of $8M perhaps $9M. Bring back Martinook, Noesen, Pesce…basically everybody except Kotkaniemi, DeAngelo and Teravainen. The first 2 for obvious reasons, but Turbo will be demanding north of $7M. He's not worth it. Take his money, package Kotkaniemi with prospects and picks for Marner in a trade, then sign Marner for $10.5M. But Dundon is a notorious cheapskate, so maybe this doesn't happen. Regardless, watching Kotkaniemi has been like watching Semin, Puljujarvi Galchenyuk, Yakupov, et al. He was a mistake from the get-go. Trade him, or buy him out.

  3. I can't believe Freddie let in that 3-2 goal at the side of the net. Make a save there, bud, and you have a Game #7 to cheer for and not a THG video…

  4. Aho 26yo
    Svech 24yo
    Kotkaneimi 22
    Drury 24
    Jarvis 22
    Necas 25

Teravainian is an old guy at 29, and stall pulling 35 bring up the average age.

People forget that this team missed the playoffs for like 9 years and was forced to play guys before they were ready due to a lack of talent.

Most guys prime cup contending years are 28-33 years old.

This is still a very young team despite having won at least 1 series in each of the last 6 seasons.

  5. It would be hard to imagine big changes not happening this offseason. They’ve been considered contenders for years now, and always fall short.

  6. If I'm RBA, I'm very seriously considering the option to coach for Seattle. Coaching a team with lower expectations, having a longer leash from an exec he has a relationship with all for more money is very enticing.

I love this team and so do many others in Central NC. Resign (highest priority to lowest) Jarvis, Guentzel, Skjei, Chatfield, Martinook, and Necas. Hope that there's room for Noesen and Drury. Take calls involving Andersen and Svechnikov. Buy out and cut ties with KK.

  7. With that cap crunch and all those free agents coming up (mostly of the U variety), it goes without saying that things are about to take a hard turn for the worse in Raleigh. This was probably the Canes' last chance for a Cup for quite some time. As a Columbus fan whose team was in quite a similar predicament five years ago, I feel their pain.

  8. Canes likely going to at least re-tool next season. 8 UFAs, 6 RFAs, no clear starter in net, and neither the GM nor the coach has a contract next year.

  9. Not even the second half of the season. KK had 13 points in the 14 first games. Needed the next 80 games (playoffs included) to score 15

  10. The problem for Carolina is that their issues don't have clear and immediate solutions. Freddie once again proved he wasn't a championship caliber playoff goaltender when it mattered most, and I still don't know if Rod Brind'Amour's coaching style is capable of producing a Stanley Cup champion. If I were Carolina, I would buy out Kotkaniemi, move Freddie, and let both Pesce and Terevainen walk. Re-sign Guentzel and Skjei and extend Seth Jarvis. If the Hurricanes move Necas, what do you get for him?

  11. kotk could go i think there are more productve players out there ..brett pesce should be kept..u see what happened without him…underated defensive player…anderson looked great coming off injury but looked shaky in all of the playoff games …i would have started kotc. in game 6 ..hes good but not experienced so he needs to play..lets hope some homegrown prospects and rookies like jarvis pop out of the system and they will be fine…u have to keep the core together if u have success otherwise its risky…cup or no cup success of making the playoffs keeps up the $$$
