If it’s the offseason every nhl player has to basically pay for their own skill coaches and practices because teams are not allowed to provide that.
During the season no way, he definitely didn’t pay for practice time .
The only thing that’s true was that they didn’t have any in house skills coach so he had to pay his own . But how often did we see KK working hard after practice with a skills coaches ? Maybe never ?

I can’t say for sure but I’d have to guess Montreal has way more features than Carolina?

Yes, under MB this was true.

It will never happen but if the Canes bought him out, returning here would make a lot of sense for both parties. Similar to Newhook he’d be in a development environment now, he’s the right age and pedigree for the buy low and build strategy.
I imagine too many egos involved tho.

Hiring a skill coach implies that you have skills though
This talks about some of it. I remember reading a better article but can’t find it. You can also compare the hockey ops page from now and 2019 to see how we’ve beefed up our staff.

At what point the club has to take you by the hand to guide you?
You’re a millionaire. Players are paid from the training camp to the end of the season.
Why can’t you hire a private trainer by yourself to improve during the summer?
KK was lazy. End of story.
If only KK had half the drive that Domi had when he was here. He practically never stopped training
If you’re obligated to either get KK back or Bergevin coming back, who would you pick?
Fun fact, Bergevin era Habs has more developmental staff than the current Hurricanes do.
Kotkaniemi was directed to a skating coach an hour away from his home to work alongside Armia, he chose to bulk up.
We didn’t have a great development system at the time but Kotkaniemi hurt his own development.
