I can talk from experience and say that it’s a terrible addiction and you can’t watch sport without ads everywhere all the time.

The ads are annoying and everywhere, especially when the announcers are shoehorning odds into the broadcast.

But think of all the revenue generated so we can pay teachers appropriately! … Where’d everybody go? Who’s flying off in that FanDuel Lear jet…. Guys? Guys?
Seriously though. Gambling sucks. Delete the apps.

DeCock can kind of be a bit of a downer, seemingly on purpose sometimes.
He’s not wrong here tho

Yeah… I generally lean libertarian in terms of believing it’s better to let adults make their own choices—even bad ones—instead of outlawing people’s vices, but I’ve been really uneasy about sports gambling.
Like, when you consider the absolutely massive advertising blitz we’ve seen around legalization in NC, that gives you an idea of just how much money they expect to make off this stuff. And every penny of that will be coming out of people’s pockets, many of whom will be addicts and potentially ruin their lives and that of their families. Not sure if that’s enough to say this will do more harm than good, but there will definitely be casualties.

Agree with everything you said here. I think it’s more bad than good. The state gets a lot of money from it and good will come from that….but at the expense of ruining some people’s lives….that they chose to go down the rabbit hole of sports gambling. I’m conflicted but would rather it not exist. Especially when you see the uptick in people threatening players because of parlays.
