  1. Steve Yzerman is building a Stanley Cup contender for several years not just making the playoffs and get bounced out in the first round. Kenny Holland did that and the Red Wings wound up in salary cap hell and a bare cupboard of prospects.

  2. I'm not mad at Steve. I choose to criticize him for some of his contract and what it means for the team as a whole tomorrow. Making the difference between Player Steve and GM Steve is not that hard to do. Just because Steve the player is GOD in Hockey town and has claimed such status, doesn't mean I consider GM Steve to be in the same league. What he achieved in Tampa is also a very big difference, when Han took over there was already a very good core in Tampa. Steve had a worse starting position in RW when he took over, sure.

The team will probably do its third major retool in three years ahead of next year. I expect the team to perform worse next year if Steve uses the same strategy as the previous two years. RW is a foreign legion as a team, the odds that this would change next year with an equal number of new faces in the team, is not to Steve's advantage but only to his detriment. Well, it is true that you cannot succeed with all contracts, however, it is an important part to ensure that we can keep all the advantages we have during a rebuild, that is, asset management is an important part of a GM's main mission.

  3. I don't even know the co-host guy's name but he's a clown. Ranting in another video about how RW don't have a 100pt scorer. How are they suppose to have a 100pt scorer at this point with the draft picks they've had.

  4. I love Macs, but how long do we hear about the "Yzerplan"? I mean, it's almost like hearing a politician promise to lower gas prices and food prices and taxes and yet, here we are. To be a Stanley Cup contender, it's going to take at least another 5 years, and a near perfect roster. We might, might make the playoffs next year, but only after coughing up a ton of cap space cash, to keep some good veterans. You can't, no, you will not take a team to the Finals with eight vets and twelve first or second year kids. Everyone forgets, revenue is generated from ticket sales and merchandise and concessions, and for that you need butts in the seats. Take a look at San Jose's SAP Arena this year. That building was once packed to the gills, win or lose, but the last 2 seasons, they're less than 1/2 capacity and that drags down available cash. Look what the Yorks did to Pittsburgh, what happened in Phoenix, you can't build a team that fills an arena if you don't win, and America, especially Detroit, is tired of hearing "just one more year". It's gonna be more like 5, and look what the Golden Knights did in 1. Then 3.

  5. As a Vancouver Canuck fan I wonder what Stevie Y is doing signing several AVERAGE NHL free agents !
Our previous Vancouver GM tried it and it failed
I feel it blocks youth development
I also don’t see a style of team.
But I’m a big Larkin Fan!
