But this article got me insanely hyped about the possibility of an Owen Tippett – Matvei Michkov line

Tippett just needs to learn he can pass and doesn’t have to take unscreened shots from the top of the circle. Defensively he’s not good but with his shot I don’t care. He just needs to know when a shot off the rush is better than a pass attempt, cycling, or passing it back to defense

Some folks are saying Necas is too fast for his teammates in Carolina. Can’t remember where I read that, maybe in the Hurricanes sub or r/hockey. He could be a good center for this line, though to Torts’ chagrin it would be a pure offense/zero backcheck line 😅

I feel like Tippett and Michkov would work horribly together. Tippett is pretty rough on cycling and generating prolonged O-Zone pressure. Michkov is the complete opposite and will thrive if he has line mates who can find him passes around the net and give him support options off the cycle. Guys like Forester,Frost, Farabee and Coots would all be better options.

I appreciate the author making his case, but I think Tippett is probably the worst possible winger to put on a line with Michkov. Tippett’s entire game is built around being the primary puck carrier in transition, firing anything and everything that touches his stick and scoring through sheer attrition. He can benefit from playing with Michkov for sure, but I don’t think Michkov would benefit from playing with him at all.

As others have said in this thread, Foerster seems like the best option to play the opposite wing of Michkov, maybe Farabee too if they end up with a right shot Center to play on a line with them
