Honestly, True. That sadness we feel is because we care about the team again. Who would’ve thought it would have happened so quickly compared to last year. This team has so much more to give.

  2. mr_butterscotch

Maybe the real Stanley Cup was the friends we made along the way

  3. Absolutely. The city is buzzing about this team again. They really did put respect on that jersey again.

  4. One thing I will say is how much trust I have in this team picking themselves right back up next season. The coaching staff is exactly what we need, the leadership group/core works hard, management has their finger on the pulse of pro scouting to pick up the best for their needs

I mean yeah great fun season, but its too soon to reminisce. I’ve loved this team my whole life and blowing a 3-2 lead in the second round just doesn’t sit right. That oppourtunity may never present itself again. Wins fucking matter and we have zero cups. Ton of fun season, glad the city loves team again but i’m sick of moral wins.

The only time I stopped caring about the Canucks is when Messier and Keenan were here. Fuck I wanted one more round!!

Vancouver needs a winning team more than any other metropolitan city does to be frank. A championship will be a godsend for a city badly in need of community, camaraderie, and excitement. Hope it comes around soon.

I’ll miss the camaraderie whenever I’d be wearing a jersey and someone will talk to me and we’ll act like the best of friends. I’m introverted and not a friendly person, but when it came to the Canucks I am the most extroverted person ever. I’ll miss hockey. I am sad.

I’ve always loved the team and stuck around and watched through far too many dark times. This year was so refreshing, for the first time in a long time I had hope. It feels like the culture has really shifted and we are very close to being a powerhouse team like when the Sedins were in their prime.

As a fellow Canucks fan, this made my day. Go team!

Don’t be ashamed Canuck bros! If the Texas Rangers can end their drought, so can Vancouver! You guys rebuilded perfectly! We’ll give the Oilers everything we’ve got!

  12. Look at my post history. I’ve been saying this all night since the loss. I moved here right at the end of COVID (whatever year that was idk), and for the first time it felt like there was a real sense of community in this city. I really don’t want to let that go.

100% true. I’ve been a canucks fan since I was 5 years old, Nazzy was my favorite player, until this guy named Roberto came to town and stole that spot (sorry Nazzy lol). Then I was hooked, I was a diehard, watched almost every game till about 2015/16 and followed the team intently.

Then tbh I lost interest for a little while, especially during the Benning era. Then got busy with University and work. Yeah I’d catch a few games here and there, but then I started to lose interest cause it was the same thing year after year. Have an abysmal start, play mediocre for majority of the season, and then go on a bit of heater before the draft and screw ourselves over. And the teams built during those years were not great, nothing to be excited about. Like I didn’t actively try to watch games anymore.

Then this season came along. I did not have very high expectations again. I was not a fan at all of the Tocchet hiring, given his coaching record and plus the way Bruce’s departure was handled. But boy was I proven wrong. This guy brought a real system and plan that this team was missing dearly. Huggy growing into the captain. They really brought respect back to this team from the get go with that season opener. And I was back to watching games intently again, actually looking forward to games again, and falling in love with the team I loved so much as a kid.

I’m so happy to see the lower mainland and majority of BC getting behind the team again ( I’m looking at you Boston Pizza in Penticton). It’s a feeling we haven’t felt since 2011. Excited for next year, hopefully we can work around the cap space debacle we have right now.

But still, the Vancouver Canucks are a good team again.

Ok now I wanna get season tickets for the first time

I know it’s just a game and all that, but I have to admit this team has been really inspiring to me to continue working to better my own self. When the team came out on fire to start the season it was like “shit, if they can work hard and get rewarded… why not me?”. Maybe a little bit parasocial but there were definitely times over the past year where I’ve been like “what would Tocc say” or “what would JT Miller do” when I’m too glum to go exercise or cook a healthy meal or whatever. Game seven effort aside, I’m so proud of the boys and so thankful for the work and effort they’ve put in all season because it’s been a real inspiration.

Now we need to think long and hard over who to keep and who to let go

  17. angelbelle

And for what it’s worth, /r/EdmontonOilers and /r/hockey for the most part had been graceful in reacting to Brock’s unfortunate situation.

  18. Aria_Bennett8912

The heart of sports lies in the passion, the community, and the unforgettable moments that bring everyone together. Go Canucks

  19. Cautious-Asparagus61

Fuck yes. I’ve missed this feeling. I’m ready for the pain again lol

  20. TorgHacker

There’s truth in this. This was the first year I actually felt we have hope since 2012.

  21. Weeb_Masta_Flex

Thats why were mad. They played great, all season, they’re divison champs, finished 3rd in the league after spending 8 weeks at number 1. They played 12 great games in the playoffs. Thats why when then shit the bed in game 7 we’re pissed. Im in oil country, I work in the heart of downtown. I wore my Burrows jeresy everyday with pride everyday, today I felt shame for being a canucks fan because of how they played. I’ve played better games in gym class in high school than how we played tonight. “If Boeser” “If Demko” their a team, they cant rely on two players and we as fans shouldnt either. They got to game 7 as a team, and shit the bed as a team.

Im still a fan and Im still gonna cheer for the team I grew up with, Im still going to buy and wear merch, get tickets when I can, but Im still going to be pissed the fuck off and upset about how they played tonight

  22. 5partan5582

I don’t know enough of the intricacies to complain about players, plays, or coaching, I can hardly even remember more than 6 names on the team at a given time.

I just enjoyed watching my blue and greens move the puck around and put numbers on the broadcast. It’s been a while and I appreciate that we got some noise this year.

  23. JauntyGiraffe

Good vibes this season. It’s been a long time since we’ve had good vibes.

  24. ProtoMan3

Hell, I’m from Seattle and my hockey fan friends here who aren’t Canucks fans still followed the team in the playoffs and wanted to hear my opinions about them this year.

The Canucks went from a joke to a team that paid people pay attention.

  25. AccomplishedAd4995

i’m so fucking hyped for next season

  26. I’ve been watching since 85/86ish. This city *wants* to love this team but the fanbase has been through the wringer time and time again. Seeing the dark times that were the Keenan & Messier era to the Sedins initially being the “sisters” to becoming absolute Chads was a thing to behold. Van city is absolutely *begging* to cheer for a winner but, my word, it’s worse than an abusive relationship at this point.

At this point only Buffalo shares this kind of pain. The leafs can kma.
