  1. Pure speculation from a Flyers fan : Given the iihf just came down kinda hard on Fedotov and his former khl club, the team may be trying to make amends by a showing of good faith and reconciliation to Philly by helping Michkov come now, not because Philly requires any compensation but because the iihf technically would view them as the victim in the Fedotov contract fiasco. Philly could then request the iihf reduce the suspension as they dont feel the khl team intentionally broke the rules, and have "made amends" by releasing Michkov early in hopes that Fedotov as well as the khl club both get the suspensions reduced and all parties can move forward in good standing.

  2. Ehlers plays his best on the first line and on PP1 whenever Kyle Connor was hurt. Once he gets out on second line he gets half the amount of points. I’d say if Ottawa gets him having Ehlers line one and Brady line two would truly spread the scoring out extremely well

  3. Great report Mike!
    Re: BrindA'mour, KK situation:
    1. Canes did the right thing extending Rod. He's a good coach.
    2. Canes got exactly what they deserved re: the KK offer sheet fiasco!!! As a Habs fan I LOVE IT!!!! Karma has a way of coming back and biting you in the arse!!!!! Anyone who thinks the Canes "really wanted" KK is delusional. It was a spite move pure & simple because Habs offer sheeted Aho. KK has been an absolute BUST for Carolina…his game has regressed to 12 G and 26 pts on the season (or thereabouts) and 1 measly assist during the playoffs playing less than 10 minutes/game as a 4th liner.
The Canes SHOULD buy him out and let him sulk his way back to Finland (with a truckload of $$$) and play out his career there. Good riddance!!! He'll probably go down with Yakapov and a few others as one of the biggest draft busts in NHL history….and to think Bergevin chose that CHUMP over Brady Tkachuk…what a wasted pick.

  4. Didn’t Kotkaniemi signed a one year $6.1 million offer sheet, wasn’t he laughing at Montreal when he left them? Sounds like he’s not living up to his 5 million dollars in Carolina for 6 yrs..Yuk Yuk.. Regrets I’ve had few, few to many to mention…😁

  5. Ottawa has a bunch of young prospects that are bigger and could quite easily be rotated into the bottom 6 and the middle six.Jarventie,Halladay,Boucher and Ostapchuck. There is no need for Joseph and Kubalik. If the Sens were to put themselves in playoff contention, then a vet middle six like Couture, from San Jose. They need to play first and get to that point.A typical 3rd line is a vet, with a journeyman, and a bigger rookie that has at least a 14 to 15 Elite Skills rating for speed and puckhandling.

  6. If Michkov comes over for next season, Briere will need to double his efforts to get a young C with top 6 potential to center his line now & in the future. Imo, Morgan Frost isn't the guy.

  7. would like to see the McDavid Oilers win a Stanley Cup–i know they have several Cups in Edmonton, but ,it 'd be great to see him holding the Stanley Cup high.

  8. Kotkaniemi has to be the worst offer sheet ever. And then the Canes signed him to an awful long term deal (8 years!) purely out of hubris and not wanting to admit they made a terrible mistake. Montreal are still laughing their derrières off at getting rid of a draft bust (drafted #3 overall, he had a whopping 27 points this season!) and receiving a 1st and a 3rd in compensation.

  9. Great Video, as usual, Mike. I don't think that you should be surprised if The Toronto Maple Leafs keep The Core Four, at the very least, for now, with the new coach, Craig Berube on board. Let me know what you think

  10. The Jarvis injury reminds me of UTree's video on hockey having a culture problem. And one of the things he talked about was players playing through injuries that would normally keep them out of action for weeks at minimum, but players worry that if they try to go the recovery route and heal their injuries thoroughly, they will run the risk of becoming expendable if up-and-coming players can take their spot on the roster. Mostly depth players suffer this fate but it could also happen to elite players if an opportunity presents itself. Look at Draisaitl playing through a broken leg during last year's playoffs. Or Serge Savard playing through the second half of the 1972 Summit Series with a broken bone in his foot. To a lot of players in lower tier leagues those injuries could be career threatening at worst.

  11. The word is bribe… They want a bribe. That being said if Michkov does make the team this year it will be fun when the Ducks play them. Definitely big ratings for those two games, especially the first one.
