Sat: Don’t expect a lot of these guys to comeback. From what I can gather they’re going to be pretty ruthless with how they approach things.

  1. Only three dman under contract. Big changes on the back end.

  2. De_Floppss

To be fair from those who contracts are up, there’s only a few you’d want back anyways

  3. I mean, being ruthless with your roster worked for Vegas…

  4. Obvious-Property-236

The only person I see coming back is Myers, if I’m being honest.

Joshua and Zadorov maybe. Lindholm and cole, definitely not. Big Z is getting a big pay raise from any team out there after what they saw of him this playoff run.

  5. CaptainIndoCanadian

Good. The team was constructed with an idea in mind and they plugged the holes best they could in the limited time. Fact of the matter is: not good enough. Tocch got the guys to over achieve and buy in to a system. Now, find players that can elevate that system.

I’m hoping they can swing a trade for Shea Theodore. So Quinn isn’t the only one making things happen in the offensive zone. He can play the right side so him and Soucy as a 2nd pair would be great. Hopefully they can move Hronek for a top 6 scorer. Maybe they’ll have room for Tanev. Solidifies the d core and makes you much more dynamic.

Team doesn’t have to be “completed” in just the offseason. We saw the big trades mid-season when they needed to adjust needs.

  6. electricnux

Yeah it makes no sense to have *everyone* back just on bigger contracts.

They will be able to address the issues. They did it last year with barely 8M in space, they can get more done this year. They know Tocchet’s system works, the team was a top defensive team all year, but they need to build a more dangerous offense and will be interesting to see who they target. I wonder if they’re keeping an eye on Necas, he fits the age group for this core

  7. AKawhiPlace

Resign Lindholm, zadorov and joshua and the rest I could care less. If it’s even possible I have no idea when it comes to cap. I trust the moves this team makes now at least, which is truly a miracle

  8. Newaccount4464

Good, these guys played great and we can’t afford em. They deserve their pay and the team needs to adjust

  9. No_Character_5315

They need a coaching shakeup not rick or foote or Clarke they are untouchable but they need a PP specialist the drop pass break in obviously doesn’t work with this group time for new ideas and set plays on the PP.

  10. nodarknesswillendure

This team was special and I’ve enjoyed every moment of watching their games this season, listening to post game shows, listening to pressers, etc etc. Will be a fan of every guy in this group for a long time. However, I fucking love the ruthless approach. Let’s go.

  11. We are going to end up signing a whole bunch of odds + ends on 1 year “show me” contracts lol.

  12. stepharee

Hell yeah. I have total faith in the management group so I’m excited to see what they do!

  13. TomTheWaterChamp

I’ll approach whatever they do with a ton of optimism. I trust Rutuherford and Alvin know what they’re doing a lot more than any prior regime in recent memory. While I’d love to say run it back because Toch brought out so much with this team, I think we all know it’s not possible and there are honestly some gaps in how the team is built for down the stretch and into the post-season. Will enjoy seeing what happens next, should be a very active offseason.

  14. goneanddoneitagain

As much as everyone adores every player that skates fast or hits big, I only see the core guys (Hughes, Miller, Boeser, Pettersson, Demko and now Silovs) as untouchable. Basically everyone else has potential to be replaced.

The league has a lot of players that exist outside our bubble. Alvin and Rutherford saw what this group can do and knows what we need to do better and they’ll adjust accordingly.

I’m personally really excited for what comes next. This was our first true year of some success and finally gives management something to work from.

  15. Give Jim and Patrik a little credit. The untouchables on this team are Hughes, Miller, Pettersson (…) and Demko. The surrounding cast will come and go. There will be other guys who slot in. If Joshua, Hronek, Lindholm and Zadorov all want massive raises, then it’ll be in another market.

  16. bitter-pickles

Zadorov has priced himself out for sure.
Lindholm (barring intangibles effecting the negotiations family/roots/community) has priced himself out.
Cole could come back on minimum, but likely only has one decent contract left so he’s gone.
    Myers is a wildcard
Joshua will need to accept a raise but not the crazy UFA mark up type of raise if he wants to stay.
Hronek is most likely to stay based solely on the acquisition price and optics around it but at the same time this regime has proven that they don’t care too much about optics if it get in the way of a good plan so…

If I had to guess: Hronek either signs a 6.8 x 8 with NTC for a few years, or the Canucks play hardball and arbitration him for the year and look to move him throughout the year.

    Joshua stays on a 4×4

    Myers stays on a 3×3 Soucy-esque contract

Mikheyev is moved out with a pick for future considerations

I also believe that we will be making a HELL of a run at Guentzel who would have been a difference maker in this series for sure.

    Zadorov leaves
    Lindholm leaves
    Cole leaves

  17. Initial-Ad-5462

Maybe arbitration gets us Hronek for one year?

Zadorov seems the only UFA defender who is really hard to replace.

    We’re getting Tanev, right?

  18. MMA_Laxer

well after the year they had, from last to first, the front office and coaching staff earned the trust.

  19. Myers would be worth sticking around if he signs a friendly deal. He loves playing here and would be a great bottom pairing 12 minute d man with the ability to play in the top 4 to cover for injuries etc. 2.5 or less. He would likely get 4+ on the open market.

Big Z. Phenomenal addition, but he is young and will find some money somewhere.

Lindholm. I’d bring him back, but again he’s probably priced himself too high. It sucks he would look good in-between a high end winger and Petey (I don’t think Petey can center a line on a good team yet, maybe a year or two away if he hits the gym and sports psychologist)

Hronek, he wants to be paid more than fair value. Trade his rights away prior to July 1.

Arty party. Try to sign him to a multi year one way contract.

    Cole, see you later.

Blueger try to sign he was a good PKer and likely not a high cap hit.

Joshua, let him earn the money he has earned himself somewhere else.

    Lafferty let go.

  20. its_the_luge

Hope D Petey or Willander could be looked at next season

  21. intelligentx5

Somehow get Stammer and do the Vegas thing during their cup run. Circumvent, trade assets, build a mega team. Big defense.

  22. 2BFrank69

Big Z is needed. He can withstand a long gruelling playoff run. A lot of our guys seemed to run out of gas or get hurt.

  23. JerbearCuddles

I mean, lets be real. Tocc called 5-6 of these guys passengers. That’s roughly 2 lines worth of players. Lol. A lot of them shouldn’t be back. The worst part is the ones we want back, we might not even be able to afford. IE Lindholm, Joshua, and Zads.

If they’re gonna be ruthless, I hope it includes Pettersson. Maybe not a trade, but have a serious discussion with him about his fitness. Flopping around after every shove is a bad look. If he refuses to address it, fuck it. Trade him. I’ll take ruthless if it means we ice a real contender.

  24. silverbacksunited12

I understand ruthless approach. But also what about the locker room? It seems keeping Joshua and Zadorov would be huge for the culture. Possibly lindholm as well? Didn’t his wife start to really like Vancouver

  25. BanjoFever

I love how the canucks embraced big defenceman (Quinn is the asterisk (and for a good reason)). Thats a playoff hockey mindset and it is intimidating to other teams. When Zadorovs on the ice other players are scared and he does have some offensive upside. He can fight. He has a personality. I hope they pay him enough to keep him (and Myers resigns for a local discount).

Hronek doesnt thrive in Tocchet’s system. Hes an amazing player who will thrive under another coach. He’s best when he’s playing Quinn’s role but we have at covered.

Joshua is great, love how he plays. He benefitted playing on the 3rd line with determind players. I hope he stays but def don’t overpay for 1 great season.

  26. Snoopy-Town

Priorities this off-season if the horse wasn’t beaten to death just yet.

    1. Lindy

    2. Big Zee

    3. Teddy

Joshua would be taken by some other trigger happy GM than Allvin at 3.5+ per.

It was a nice 1.5 seasons with the organization, Filip.

I am banking on Myers taking a hometown discount.

Pretty much a given on the fates of DeSmith and Šilovs.

    Have a speedy recovery, Brock!

  27. shadownet97

A lot of dead weight and passengers during both series.

I like Suter a lot but I think he’s on the chopping block too. Then again, we can’t expect him to be a 15-20 goal scorer but my god he had a million good chances to score but nope.

  28. yeetmemommmy

Being free of that 6 million dollar boi contract of Myers will be nice, if he comes back at like league minimum to maybe 1.5 I won’t be mad. The main 3 that better be back are zadorov, Lind homie, and Joshua. Others are replaceable, Joshua is such a great role player and brings some of the beef that this team needs more of, zadorov as well but it wasn’t enough
