Maybe it’s about Val? Trying to think of anything else besides retirement.

#FUCK YEAH HES COMING BACK(delusional)
ForsakenDust7
I hope we get some answers whether that be he’s retiring or he’s coming back next season. We can’t do this for the 3rd year in a row. I hope he comes back even if he’s a 4th line guy cuz he is extremely valuable to this team
Level_Watercress1153
I hope he’s not retiring
Shaneisonfire
Could be naming a new captain like how Hejduk did for Landy but I still have hope a full summer of rehab he can try again in September at camp for a comeback
Talinn_Makaren
I don’t know what to think *and* I don’t know what Evan Rawal thinks that I think. This is going to be a big surprise.
ZeldaTheOuchMouse
Retirement announcement and he takes a front office role
Calling it now
dibbiluncan
What do we all think? People seem pretty split on whether he’s retiring or coming back, so does that mean it’s about neither?
Blu3Yeti
I fully expect this to be a retirement announcement.
I want to be wrong, but that’s what I’m expecting.

hooo boy. 🙁

He’s going to stand next to Bendar in matching suits. Further enhancing our sexiest coach in the NHL rankings.
adjective____noun
I think he’s going to sit in front of the mic and say his opinion on various anime.

What’s the message of the “I don’t think it’s for what you all think” tweet? I don’t get it
nightsiderider
I’m gonna hope for the best, but my expectations are realistic on what this likely is. Either way, gonna be fucking crying tomorrow I guess.
spoopyelf
I feel like if he was coming back, he’d just come back, not hold a press conference. I bet he’s retiring and naming a new captain.

If it’s retirement (which I hope not, he’s barely into his thirties, but I’d understand if it is.), I hope he takes a coaching role. He is too valuable in the locker room to leave, and his presence could still do a whole lot for the team even without him playing.
AltruisticEnd9
Someone tell me it will be okay I’m scared.

It was always a 12-16 month recovery time, it just hit 12 months recently. It’s literally probably an end of season check in/presser
u_n_p_s_s_g_c
If Landy is done as a player, is it insane to want him as an assistant coach? His leadership is so important to this team
toochy7
If I recall correctly, they did a press conference with him last year in the spring (before his cartilage surgery) giving updates on what had happened the previous year and what not. My guess is it’s probably similar to that press conference
tonhtubra
My guess is just end of season press conference along with Gabe giving an update on his recovery and his timeline and him saying that if he keeps progressing he hopes to be ready for training camp.
Wonderful-Patient732
Anyone know what time?
Bingy33
We saw him progressing through practices. He was still a long ways off. Original timeline for the injury was one year at least, so I just can’t imagine were calling it a retirement at this point, but I’m not Gabe. I’m also trying to talk myself into that this is okay. Hoping it’s just a status update since all we really heard on Gabe recently was Bednar saying he “wasnt close” to coming back.

What on earth does “it’s not what you think” mean???? Most of us are going to (fairly) assume it’s a retirement announcement or “I’m coming back next year!” announcement.
What other options are there? Let’s think of all the fun, ridiculous things it could be. I’ll start…
“Folks, I’m excited to tell you I’m returning to Sweden to become the fourth Swedish astronaut. Can’t wait to play this amazing sport in an Out of This World setting.”
anemic_royaltea
League signed off on some cybernetic enhancements. It’s happening.
jfleming5280
I think he’s going to announce that Jamie Benn can give four HJs at the same time.
Awolfx9
Ok if I had to guess that its not Gabe announcing his retirement, I think he’s going to give the Captaincy to someone else while still trying to make a full on ice return. But that’s full on speculation from me.

Everyone chill. He’s just announcing that he’s the new spokesperson for Raising Canes
TropicalBatman
My guess is he’s going to pull a forsberg. Try his hardest to get back out there and play like your old self. The drive and talent is still there, but his legs aren’t. He’ll get a little leg injury and that’ll be it. Playing 11 games or something like Peter did. I’d much rather celebrate his career after the game with a building full of avs fans thanking him instead of him quietly bowing out behind a microphone.

Landy is going to be a life coach for Val. Val is going to move in to a spare bedroom on successfully complete his rehab. And Both will be back next season. Wishful thinking.
jm31623
Guys, I think it’s pretty safe to assume he’s retiring. And that’s okay. It’s time for him to move on and same with the Avs. He can get a job in the front office, Avs can make Mac Captain, and they can begin the work of building next year’s team.
