Today’s episode of Why I Want is going over Ivan Miroshnichenko, a powerful Russian sniper winger who, at his best, is projected as a top 2 pick in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft.

However, that projection is not at all consistent across the board—let’s discuss why.

The 2022 NHL Entry Draft is filled with a lot of top NHL prospects. Some are elite, and others could be even seen as franchise NHL prospects. Names to look out for include Shane Wright, Matthew Savoie, Brad Lambert, Ivan Miroshnichenko, Rutger McGroarty, Maddox Fleming, Jack Hughes, Seamus Casey, Conor Geekie, Trystan Luneau, Denton Mateychuk, Jack Devine, David Jiricek, Frank Nazar, Isaac Howard, Joakim Kemell, Ryan Chelsea, Logan Cooley, Danila Yurov, Simon Nemec, Elias Salomonsson, Juraj Slafkovsky, Cruz Lucius, Devin Kaplan, and more!

This video is taking place after the 2021 NHL Entry Draft.

  1. I would have him like 8th. It is risky but I think he could do well. He just needs to spend more time in worse leagues to develop, and then near the age of 21, he could be in the NHL, playing like Suzuki.

  2. No way will the Canucks get Miroshnichenko. He'll go in the top five, the Canucks are ruining their chances at landing a top five pick by trying to eke into the playoffs.

  3. This isn’t that rare. Remember Romanov winning world juniors mvp and runner up the year after. Romanov is a good player and I think he’ll develop fully into a 2nd pairing dman and was a steal in the 2nd round, but in the world juniors he looked like a super star.. I think Miroshnichenko will be similar. I think he’ll be a good player. Middle 6 forward, really good 2nd liner at best. I’d still pick him in the 10-15 range because of that possible upside and high floor though. It’s also tough to blame his team because he’s not even doing very well in the VHL.. he didn’t even have amazing numbers in the Mhl the year before to justify a top 5 pick. That’s just my opinion.

  4. Its called the Michkov affect, he plays with Michkov and then boom he looks like ovechkin, then when he goes back to his regular team he shows his true colours.

If you want the best sniper the draft = Isaac Howard LW from the USNTDP.

  5. Gotta think of a Nick name for his last name like they did for kk since it’s long and not easy to say for some people

  6. Looking back at this, makes sense why he had a difficult season with the Hodgkin's (or non Hodgkins's) lymphoma. Stoked the Caps got a top 10, maybe even top 5, talent at 20th. Hopefully he will bounce back in a massive way

  7. Typical lazy Russian, completely unwilling to play through cancer. You would expect an 18 year old to show more maturity and understand that some things are more important than living to see 19.

  8. Maybe he was battling cancer and did not know it. Hoping for his continued recovery regardless of whether he makes it to the NHL. 🙏
He must’ve been SCARED SHITLESS even before he was diagnosed. I can’t imagine the symptoms he was fighting before thinking “WTH”?

  9. If you need help pronouncing his name:
    Use the Pimsleur method:
    (REPEAT THE FOLLOWING)
