This was a tough game to watch…

Well, that was a rough one. Game 7 Oilers vs Canucks. The first game 7 in Rogers Arena since 2011. For the Canucks who were already missing Demko, it was announced yesterday that Brock Boeser was now out after suffering from blood clots. So it was always going to be a tough game, but this was brutal. While Silovs absolutely showed up, making some incredible stops this game, no one else on the Canucks seemingly did. Even as a neutral fan, this game was flat out hard to watch… at least for the first 50 minutes. The Canucks looked completely lost out there and yet, they made it interesting right at the end in what was a heart racing finish to give fans hope. But sometimes it’s the hope that kills you. I cover the entire game in todays NHL hockey recap!

  1. It's weird, if you play the whole 60 minutes you have a much better chance of winning. Strange.

  2. Watching Rutherford and Alvin looking intensive at the game; one can't help but to think they were evaluating the team and already understanding who they need to get, at what position and role, and who they can get rid of. They know what they are doing… and Canuck fans should be optimistic about the coming seasons. 👏👏👏

  3. Canucks no-showed Game 6 and the first two periods of Game 7. I don't get it. How does an entire team just seemingly not care with a chance to move on to the next round of the playoffs? Were they still trying hard but the Oilers were just so good that it didn't look like it? They refused to shoot! Skinner is not considered a very good goalie, just fire pucks at him and see if he lets in a soft one. They had a four minute penalty in each game and looked like some Junior B team that doesn't know how to set up a power play. Tocchet criticized his team for having too many passengers and that's why I'm mad, regardless of how the team exceeded their pre-season expectations. The series seemed winnable if the passengers gave a damn. Put in the effort from Game 5 into Game 6 and maybe there is no Game 7.

  4. Well played all season Canucks, but Edmonton wanted it more. Their big name players brought their A game, some of our guys didn't. Live and learn boys, the fans gave you their all, and it's a sad end to the season, but hopefully the Oilers can bring the cup home.

  5. Where are the goofs that defended Hughes and Pedoson now? The team doesn't have the money to sign anyone without baby dink.

  6. Now we know that Silovs can play a full game and the rest of the team can play a full half period.
    It’s all about managing expectations.

  7. I watch this and think to myself, I can be like them. I can care about sports. but unfortunately I never do. Interesting highlights though.

  8. I truly believe that miller should’ve been captain. Not to discredit Hughes but man I understand you want to develop your young guns but JT needs the C to lead this group

  9. Silovs, the only canucks played who played for 60 minutes, and was rewarded with a loss by his team.

  10. What does Vancouver do with their goalies? All 3 played good playoff hockey. They could probably flip one to get a pick or prospect.

  11. Another great story for the Oilers this series is Dylan Holloway. His activation on the second line has given him and that line some life and speed. He looks like a new player, and what a beauty the other night

  12. Fans need to start heckling the goalie after they get scored on🤡shouting SKINNER didn’t phase them🤣

  13. My biggest concern was the unwillingness of the Canucks to defend the long cross ice passes to the forwards camped out at our blue line along the boards. It seems like the Canucks never see that coming? The oilers back it up with guys going down the middle with speed and we are on our heels after that. Also way too many turnovers. Hronek is pretty horrible with pinches that don't work and just letting the puck get by him in the offensive zone. The last 2 games were horrific to watch. Great season all around just a brutal end. Like 2011 all over again.

  14. silovs deserves his flowers, because for the situation he was thrown into, he played as if he was a starter goalie the whole time. im no vancouver fan but im a fan of this guy no doubt. i wish him all the luck because he definitely has undeniable skill and a noticeable confidence thats only gonna grow with time

  15. omg.. Boeser is not the team. I hate how fans keep making this excuse that Boeser was out. The problem was no one else showed up to play except Silovs

  16. The team did great for what they had! With Ian Cole playing that much ice time and Mik being paired with Petey despite having no finish ability spoke to the lack of depth the team had but was still praised for being a team that could still score across many lines

  17. Can't just show up in the last half of the 3rd period in a Game 7. 4 shots at the end of the first period. No shots on net during the 4min PowerPlay. They did the same thing in Game 6 and should've adjusted. At the same time, you gotta give them credit for the season and coming this far. Shilovs has got the scratch and sniff interest from scouts, GM's, fans and will be back next year.

  18. Oilers fan here. I be leave that how you act as a winner or loser is as important as winning or losing. I just wanted to reach out to Canucks fans and say you've got a GREAT team and this series could have gone either way. I probably could have gone without the Canucks trolls calling AM radio stations and taking shots at our city, but I also know the assholes don't represent the majority of people.

Great series, better than the BOA was, and I hope we get another match with you guys when both teams are healthy next year.

  19. My hats off to the Vancouver goalie scouts. Thatcher Demko now Silovs. Great scouting and development. Hopefully, they don't waste Silovs' good years like Demko's.

  20. 2:39 not to hate but as an oilers fan i think the reason silovs saved that was because it was blocked before the save was made. still a good save but i felt that needed to be mentioned

  21. Shot of Macklin Celebrini in the stands, but not the curious presence of Owen Wilson sitting (appeared to be) by himself, wearing a Canucks jersey with his own name on the back? That was pretty funny.

  22. Game five was the only game where The Canucks had the edge. As a Canucks fan the entire series was frustrating to watch. Good luck Edmonton. Bring the cup back to Canada.

  23. Silovs stepped up. Petterson played like a 3rd liner the whole playoffs. Millers scoring was a little slower than expected. When they turned it on you could see they could dominate both nasville and edmonton. Just seems like they didnt want to
