  1. Kakko is like hot and cold water, he shows he can when he tries then he disappears. I really don't understand his play and it should be up to the coaches to to guide him is he worth keeping i personally say yes he is pretty strong around the boards and his mates should realize he is trying to create a play.

  2. I have no clue, but I wish he would have done something last night, other than move the puck around. There were multiple times when if he had just shot the puck, he may have hit the net. It was quite frustrating.

  3. Im about as hard as anyone on kakko , ive said i think at least 4 games this playoffs, i predict he's gonna break through . Hes been shooting a lot. I really think a smaller market team he just might thrive on. His cap hit right now is an issue we can re create his number cheaper , but i think he will be solid nhl player.

  4. Laffy is dominant and a superstar he is not just benefitting from playing with Panarin and Trocheck, Kakko was put with Mika and kreider and didn’t work. I think he doesn’t have confidence and unless he proves me wrong he needs a change in scenery, my ideal trade, Kaapo Kakko straight up for Trevor Zegras, throw in a B tier prospect and a pick if needed. I think keeping him is a high risk potentially high or even low reward

  5. Perhaps he can, I just think it won't be on the Rangers though. I like Kakko and always pull for him but enough is enough. Kakko just doesn't fit with the Rangers.

  6. He's doesn't neglect his defensive responsibilities. I think he is what he is. He's more like Jan Erixon or Jesper Fast than a scorer.

  7. Prior to his draft I watched every shift of his in 5 Finnish Liga games. What I saw was a guy who played zero Defense, always hovering near the blueline looking for a breakout pass, Not a 200 ft player. Ironically he is now known as a good defensive forward with limited offence. Some of his impressive highlight goals back then were against Team France, not exactly a hockey powerhouse. You have to play defense in the NHL these days & he has sacrificed offence to do so. Apparently he can't do both. Never mind the next contract, the Rangers need to trade him, for prospects or draft picks.

  8. For where he was drafted, he is 100% a bust. He has a good shot, unfortunately, he doesn't have the skill to either generate scoring chances and/or doesn't put himself in the right position. He also looks very slow to me.

  9. SIMPIE ANSWER T0 THE NAME 0F THE VIDE0, AN EMPHATIC N0 < BEEN WATCHING SINCE THE IATE 60s, HES HAD PIENTY 0f 0PP0RTUNITY, HIS 0NIYATTRIBUTE SEEMS T0 BE STR0NG AI0NG THE B0ARDS , Y0U CAN SEE HES N0T 0VERIY TAIENTED 0FFENSIVEIY, THE SC0UTS HAD IT WR0NG!!!!

  10. He’s young and has potential. Too early to call him a bust but he’s not Jack Hughes. His draft slot doesn’t match his output. He needs to gain confidence and play bigger.

  11. Young man needs a change of scenery. He is not the first player. That's simply a bust! A fresh start on another team may be what the doctor ordered

  12. I watch every Ranger game and his name is hardly ever called. It’s like he isn’t even on the ice. Sadly I’m chalking this #1 pick a BUST.

  13. If the number 2 overall pick winds up being a nice third liner, it's sort of a bust. His linemate Cuylle was a mid second rounder. Outside maybe Caulfield, there wasn't much in that draft after Hughes was picked at 1.

  14. Ranger fans never learn … first, it was "chytil is bust," then it was "laffy is a bust. " .. all before these guys /kids turned 23

Now its Kakko is bust … even tho statistically speaking team has better defensive stats when he's playing. Also, statistically speaking, the zib-ck23 line produced most high danger opportunities with him than any other forward they've tried. Also, he plays a power forward game possession game… which generally, like Dmen, takes longer to develop

Is he a bust? Maybe, but i think way too soon to give up. Especially given we know he has the skills as we've seen it. Also, if he's such a bust, why were teams asking for him, and Drury said No!

  15. Trade him for a 1st in this yrs draft, take both 1st. Rnd piks to move up in the draft .
Next yr Othman or Berard be will be , the #2 in the draft wasn't drafted to be a bottom 6 guy, 20 gms with Mika & Krieder 0 goals

  16. If he could just score goals, he would be an absolute stud. He does everything else so well and does play a 200 foot game which a lot of high draft picks don’t actually do when they are under 25. But because he’s not putting up the sexy offensive numbers people are complaining he’s a bust. I don’t know what he actually should be getting paid. Obviously you can’t pay him a ton because he is not scoring the goals, but I definitely think he is somebody you want to keep on the team because of everything else he can do. We just have to hope that by the end of that contract he finally finds the offensive game that we know he’s capable of. I would give him a three yenar deal but at a team friendly price. During that contract if he is not putting up the numbers then look to trade him for the best deal you can get or use them to sweeten up another deal. He will still be relatively young and somebody might think they can take a shot on him and turn him around. And if you’re not able to trade him by the end of the contract and he is not putting up any offensive numbers, then just let him walk.

  17. What I find funny is people equate star with regular season stats. Ask Matthews how his 70 goals worked out for him in the play offs. Winning is all that matters. There is so much more to hockey. This kid is good 5 v 5 and his line gets great minutes and pressure.

  18. He has yet to play on the top two lines. I think that he's taken a big jump this year by being more assertive and aggressive. He's on a line with rookie and a trade deadline adquisicion. Plus he was out for a while.

  19. I like kakko defensive mind with skill, he generates turnovers in the offensive zone, he is big and strong on the puck!

    You need guys like this!

Not everyone needs to score to contribute success to the team.

If he went to a shitty team he probably play more and get more points.

  20. Just a bad pick, almost like the NYR management believed all the hype. There were better options available, and it was obvious to many, even back then.

  21. I think he will leave this summer. He is who he is good 3rd line player, BTW I never thought that about Laffy. Laffy's skill was evident since he got here it just took him a while to get it together and now he is doing it. Kakko is a different guy , but I think his top is 20-30 points on the 3rd line.

  22. He plays the game extremely well he’s not putting up the points but then again neither is Truba. Neither does goodrow. But there’s a lot of intangibles there that do not show up on the score sheet that you want on your team. You definitely do not want to overpay for him, however he is definitely one of those players who is going to get better with time, but is not going to be anything near a star or superstar he is going to be a quality player and I believe he will log many games in the NHL before it’s all said and done… contract wise definitely abridged deal at two years however, with the cap going up this year and projected again next year, I think 2.5 is definitely low realistically there’s gotta be a few teams out there that would pay him 3.5 so a team friendly 2.9 2.8 I would be happy with.

  23. His problem was playing for Gerard Gallant. Much like Laffy, Gallant held them both back. Rangers better be careful or they could end up in the Buchnevac situation where they traded a guy ready to bloom. Would give him another 2 years under Lavolette.
