What was her last mile, I think close to 4:40
4:44 last mile
I believe she's clean, I've done similar running in my life, it's just pure talent and being a athlete, you go Parker Valby, you excite my running again Ty, and a beautiful display of Talent š
Usual suspects~ FANtastic smooth pace and kick!
One thing I THINK I've picked up on since the cross champs in November is a lack of enthusiasm for Parker. Maybe I'm imagining this– yet another manifestation of Tuohy Withdrawal Syndrome. The announcers are respectful but not effusive as they all were (and still are when the subject comes up) regarding KT. Here, as the announcer was going down the list of runners (very nice– he did have half an hour on his hands) he described PV as 'the best runner in the NCAA, AT THIS TIME'; in other words, 'for now'.
This might have to do with any number of little things, mostly out of Parker's control. Tuohy was in the public eye for so long, and was such a dominating force in prep cross and track, with few or no peers, who then made a difficult and successful transition to college where she crushed everybody, including Valby, for over a year and a half. Parker has been there all along, but her very sudden jumping from a 15:20 runner to pro-level sub-15 was unexpected, and still seems implausible to some.
Another thing that might be a turnoff is her public presentation in post-races and social media, where she may overplay the kind of coquettish tease that you would associate more with an actress, influencer or fashion model than a serious athlete. Obviously, this persona is in complete contrast to Katelyn's wholesome, down-to-earth, team-first gravitas. [edit:] Also, maybe Parker wants to be an actress, influencer and fashion model. Nothing wrong with that. I dunno. I just hope Parker stays healthy.
Does Rain slow you down? Comment, please.
To this commentator: Dude, you clearly are not enamored with Valby, but I'd say she has earned the privilege of being located within the pack during the race. At least a couple of times. Just do your job.
What is the point of taking 10 minutes to announce everyone's name? What are we supposed to do with that information? Commentate on the race, the top teams, the top individuals, back stories, who needs what scores for what teams, anything is better than just announcing 40 peoples names
I admire PVās grit and talent but itās nice to watch other talented runners race their own race.
No thanks for a big alert who won.
Parker using her turn signal at 26:07 cracks me up. She's literally on a race track as is acting like she's driving to pick up some apples, haha!
Lord almighty, she sure can run.!
Theres a lot more left in that tank.!
How fast can she go with competion?
Way faster im sure.!š
Parker Valby is the best distance runner in the world. Her move to take the lead was awesome. Valby is so strong and dominant.
Thanks for telling me who wins before i watch. not
What determines who starts in the very back?
Another great race/workout by Parker. I think she's doing the 10K/5K double this weekend, so it made sense for her to be conservative till they came up on the last mile.
Perfect weather for any distance 1500 or higher.
Just once I'd love for the announcer to shut up during the 5k and 10k and just let the runners run and the spectators spectate. Put all that narrative data in the program. Don't need a talking head telling me what I'm looking at.
She just got lucky.
Parker Valby is the NCAA record holder in the 10,000m and 5,000m. Parker was in complete control of the other runners in this race. Parker's move into the lead was impressive and exciting as she blew the other runners away. Valby is the best and most dominant runner in the world.
I love it – no mention at all of Parker until she runs away from the pack.
