Devils attempted to trade for Ullmark at the deadline but were on his no trade list

“The Senators, Los Angeles Kings and New Jersey Devils were among several teams that made a push for the 30-year-old Ullmark before the deadline. The indications are Ullmark refused to change his 15-team no trade list, which meant a possible deal to the Devils was scuttled.”

With the current murmurings that The Predators are looking to make big swings this offseason which includes extending Saros and Ullmark supposedly not interested in coming here who other than Markstrom is available for “big game hunting?”

If the Preds plan on extending Saros, maybe we can go for Askarov

That’s not what that means. Devils were negotiating but at no point is it stated they were even close enough on a deal to bring it to Ullmark’s attention.

It states that there were several teams making a push for him, very difficult to believe every single one of those were on his NTC.

And with Ullmark on a 1 year deal, its very easy to believe they wouldn’t be close on a trade either with no subsequent contract.
