Great breakdown on the situation about Max Domi I hope it happens he was really good in the playoffs against Boston.

Domi at center fails, he needed Jarni to cover defensively, can't' score himself, needs a winger but Robertson is also bad in his own end, so replacing Marner (then Matty) saved his season. priority #1 = sign a top-six center (vs. Domi or Holmberg at 3rd center), a top four right shot D man, and 'reliable' goalie. So only sign Domi to make Marner trade possible. No more than 4 for 4, no less than 3.5 for 2.
tavares domi and bert would be a good 3rd line, then all you need is a 2nd line centre. best bet trade the overpaid def for a top 2nd line centre. i wouldnt give domi or vert more than 3.5, if they want more let them walk
He is one of the few players that understands how to be a leaf.Maybe the new coach can teach him how to play in his own end and shoot the puck more.Domi for 4.2. Marner must go and trade for Nashvilles goalie and any extra money sign first line D man.
Looking at the depth chart, Marner = 12th realistic forward, meaning the Leafs have to have a TOP SIX forward coming back, so only possible trade after Domi signed and makes Marner 'expendable', is Jenner (and Provorov) or Petterson. With Calgary Mrkstrm & Andrsn, TOR would be counting on Cowen in top-9.

Im very interested in seeing domi taking faceoffs more often.
3.5 on a 4 year deal is the absolute max for Max
They are going to make a panic trade for Marner and overpay mid UFAs like they did from JFJ to Nonis.
The Leafs will ruin their team for the next 5-6 years with the moves they'll rush this summer.
I Would definatley bring back Domi, he works great with Matthews. give him 4 mil on a 4 year deal it would expire at the same time as Matthews.As for Bertuzzi im not really interested, not a good skater at all , always falling down on his own cant make a pass without it getting picked off all the time. his 5.5 mil contract could be better spent elsewhere, he is a 20 goal scorer and we have that already in McMann .it could be used to bring in a Stamkos or Toffoli.Treliving needs to rebuild out defence, if you can move marner plus the cap we already have could go out and get a Pesce , and 2 others, trade out Lilligren he aint the guy even on 3rd pair. They even at this point still have thier first round pick. i would love for Cowan to make this team next year he has done exactly what Marner did in his last year of junior won all the awards.
Domi, Matthews and UFA Perron wouldn’t be too shabby. Perron can play pp as well, and he played for Berube in St. Louis. Also sign UFA Montour for the pp and trade Reilly to Nashville for Saros. Marner to Vegas for Petriangelo and Kolesar who’s good on the pk. Petriangelo also played for Berube in St. Louis. So, Marner and Reilly are out and Bertuzzi. Additions would be Perron,Kolesar, Montour, Petriangelo and Saros in net.
My memory of Domi was him slinking out of the penalty box just after Bruins scored a PP goal – at least twice, cost Leafs the series. Don't sign this guy.

Marner definitely needs to go to clear up the cap space, but you have to consider what teams are going to send back. So it's not $11 Mil free cap space because some will come back. How much & which players is the key. Bert is owed a good $5.5-6 Mil for 3-4 years & Domi could fetch $5 elsewhere, you're right. To stay in TO it won't be over $4 Mil or 4 years.
i see Max coming back 4.5 mil 4yrs, Bertuzzi not so much if he does maybe 3 yrs 3 mil

Why is this a “big story” on twitter. There’s mutual interest in re-signing both Domi and Bertuzzi , which I agree with. They should keep them both and fire Marner and his 10.9 out of a cannon

They're going to run it back again with minimal changes Shanahan should be fired , I wish they could get rid of a few but the other GM'S know there in a bind and will offer nothing…..

the guy has 9 goals. he isnt 4.5 mil player, period. not even for 1 year. and if we’re doing 4 years it should be 3.5-4
I never even consider interviews with a player when asked “would you be open to resigning” when was last time a player said “hell no I hate it here and can’t wait to sign somewhere else “??? I do believe he does want to resign with leafs and has always wanted to play with Toronto, I also think he does do a bit of a discount but if he wants 5 or 6 I just don’t see it. If another team offers him that than he’s gone!!!
