As good as Montreal was back then, those games are slow compare to today's hockey. But at the time, it was the standard.
I remember watching that goal.
The games from the 70s and 80s are more watchable than the new millennium games, which for me are unwatchable.
Most feared Organization in Hockey at one time has now fizzled out and they aren't even relevant. That's a shame for the Montreal fans.
this was the tail end of 'old time hockey'.
i was a bruins fan but scotty bowman was my all time favorite coach. i did like don cherry too.
This gets never get to old Larry Robinson and guy lafleur the best ever 😮😮😮😮😮
The two line offside! How long did it take to get rid of it? At one time a player couldn't make a forward pass so there was no need to have a blue line.
That was awesome hockey. Two very different teams going right at it. Great stuff. Great memories of when I was a kid.
How about Game 7 of the 1971 Finals between the Canadiens and Black Hawks.
They Skated Fast amd Tough
The Canadian National anthem was butchered there a bit😂
Ty for this replay of a great finals. So great bruins singer rene rancourt made his own lyrics for the canadian national anthem lol . Loved every second of this game. 😊
The goalie pads don't seem blown up by a bike tire pump. Montreal. My team. Best team ever, but they've sucked about as bad as the Maple Laffs for the past 40 years. Too bad. I saw the last Montreal dynasty. Never going to happen again.
wow rancourt sure butchered the canadian anthem lol
I was in Cleveland the day of this game, so missed it till now.
No helmets back then!
Je me rapel cette game comme ci c etait hier.
Habs were a powerhouse team. In 1978 they lost 8 games in the entire season.
Where's Montreal's first goal? This ain't the whole game, then…
There’s never been and will never be another team like the ‘76-‘77 Habs.
What happened to the first Lemaire goal?
Great stuff. Anybody has the full game 3, where Lafleur mocked the bruins with 2 goals, 2 assists after Wensink threat on Lafleur ?
19 in red is on the ice the whole game it seems! My dad used to tell me about how great Robinson was and I certainly see it here.
Simms to Lafleur, Lafleur to lemaire, score……serves you right for not showing Montréals first goal.
The best ever team in the NHL for one season
I would have liked to have seen these Montreal canadiens play the Soviet national team in a best of 7 game series.
If anyone wants to learn more about that specific Canadiens team visit the hockey hall of fame most of that roster is enshrined there.
Its crazy how slow and sloppy play was 50+ years ago. This is, no exaggeration, at the level of high level Beer league. This is A/B league beer league, where as college, AHL, ECHL, KHL, etc are all as a whole better than the Stanley cup teams of 1977. We've come so far.
Look at how pure that ice is! No ads.
