  1. He was playing the puck, I don't care what anyone says. Smith passed it less than a second before the hit. What is Shaw supposed to do, put on the breaks, risking an ankle injury because Smith is out of his crease and decided to pass the puck in heavy traffic? The Torres hit was borderline?! Are you a Yotes fan? The guy lined him up and lunged at him, left his feet and everything. Just because Torres is a notorious ditrty player doesn't make it any less illegal.

  2. Had Torres stayed on the ice his shoulder would've hit Hossa in the chest, not the head. What he did was with full intent. Why do you think he is suspended indefinitely? The league knows what he did was cheap. I just don't get why Shaw is out for significant time for not that bad of a hit, a hit he did PLAYING the puck. Smith is 100% OK and flopped. He looked like a soccer player out there. Smith is fine and Shaw is gone a few games. Hossa is done,Torres better be out the rest of the series

  3. Wow, all of phoenix must be seeing something the rest of the world doesn't. Torres CLEARLY left the ice… BOTH skates are clearly off the ice. Seriously. Look at your team without bias for once. I don't see how you can say Shaw did this on purpose. You don't see him lean into Smith at all, it was just a collision because Shaw was playing the friggin puck. To say he isn't playing the puck is foolish, smith barely got the pass off.

  4. I mean pause the vid at 0:01 and then again immediately after. When smith gets the pass off Shaw is already on top of him. The hit almost happens in unison with the pass. How this wasn't him playing the puck is beyond me. You say Shaw should've ran into the boards, please. In the .0004 seconds between Smith getting rid of the puck and Shaws hit he was supposed to stop on a dime and run into the boards? Wake up man. This is a BS suspension. Especially seeing as how Smith FLOPPED.

  5. You can't be serious about Torres. Go watch the video man. The initial point of contact is the chest? Try the chin. "the left skate is off the ground the right is not"? Unless I've looked at mirrored replays the right leg is OBVIOUSLY off the ground. You can see him land on his left, clearly meaning both feet are off the ice. Holy shit man. The entire NHL world sees it and the only fools denying it and saying it wasn't a dirty hit are dumb coyotes fans. Stick to cacti and tumbleweeds.

  6. Yeah why play the puck and try to score, makes no sense at all. Dive by Hossa? Wow he must be really selling it then by missing tonight's game. Smith is the actor. He acts like he just got his throat cut after this hit. Then after 2 minutes of rolling on the ground like a little girl gets up brushes himself off and plays the rest of the game, and afterwards says he is 100%. He pretty much admitted he flopped, and now the Hawks are minus a player. Torres better be done for the series.

  7. I just felt the need to get in on this debate. If you pause it at 2 seconds you can see how close Shaw's skates were to the boards. He did try to avoid it, so for those Coyotes fan bitching about intent to injure, just stop. On the other hand, it was definitely a penalty due to the initial head contact, but it wasn't worthy of a suspension. Oh, and Mike Smith milked it like a little bitch.
And just as a side note, I'm neither a Blackhawk nor Coyote fan so don't start the beaks.

  8. That's actually not true. The penalty for head contact is a minor penalty for unintentional, a double minor for intentional. A game misconduct is only given if the referee believes there was malicious intent. I'm a referee and we had to take a course on this in September since the rule is new.

  9. However, there wasn't because Andrew Shaw didn't purposely hit Smith's head. Even the commentators say so at 0:16.
I also find it very interesting that Smith was grabbing his mask in pain and yet he still finished the game and didn't miss any games after that.

  10. Shaw wasn't looking where he was going, at 0:18 he turns his head to follow the puck when Smith passes it. When he turns back around and sees Smith right in front of him he braces himself and his shoulder happens to hit Smith's head. How the fucking hell is that malicious intent? It's like saying someone who wasn't paying attention and ran into a pole had a malicious intent to hurt the pole.

Also, goalie masks are designed to protect against 100 mph slap shots, and this "hurts" him? Yeah okay.

  11. You don't like losing, do you? And don't forget that you replied to me first.
    Have a fantastic day.

  12. I never meant to disrespect you. I never said anything against the Coyotes as a team, I just don't like fakers. This isn't soccer.

  13. Well, if he was actually injured then I wish him a speedy recovery.

Oh wait never mind, he's already perfectly fine.

  14. Shaw barely touched his head and Smith was pretending to be hurt then when Shaw left he was "fine" you know something if you have a concussion or close to it you don't sit there grabbing your fucking mask… This has to be worse then the Mike Ribero fake injury.

  15. You never take the run at a goalie, I don't care how hard he it him you just don't. You guys sound like fucking dipshits for defending Shaw? If you want to take run at the goalie come play lacrosse, I know if you hit my goalie I would snap your fucking femurs.

  16. I guess Smith plays soccer goalie during the summer. What a flop. When you look at the Torres hit and Shaws hit you can see how the Preds do it. Torres skates away and Shaw gets suspended. If it wasn't for fan outrage, Torres would still playing.

  17. Clean hit. Shaw never dropped his shoulder and Smith had his head down. Been playing hockey for 26 years. Goalie comes out to play the puck he's free game. It IS an unwritten rule that the goalie is "untouchable", but it's the D's job to "make it right. Anyone disagrees, you have never played the game or you're a Phoenix fan 🙂

  18. and monsterzfait…I'll run you all day buddy lmfao can you lacross players drop the gloves with no other fate than 5 min penalty? Or do you ladies get tossed for things as such?? lol

  19. Incorrect, the NHL rule book rule 69.4 states that "A goalkeeper is not “fair game” just because he is outside the goal crease. The appropriate penalty should be assessed in every case where an attacking player makes unnecessary contact with the goalkeeper."

  20. Yeah go look at what this flop did to Brown, or Doan to Lewis, or Yandle to Brown… The Yotes are goons. It took a series with the Kings to expose them. I just hope that the Kings make it out of the series without an injury like Hossa's. Hope he gets well soon.

  21. Mike Smith is the biggest pussy who ever stepped on to the ice. He's a bigger PUSSY than Alexander Burrows. Shaw lifted up his shoulders and that's how you try to get through small places.

  22. Are you referring to smith? The video is slower than in real life. That is alot of velocity hitting a standstill object. Have you ever been hit like that ? I did and i had a concussion. By the way Smith had a bad case of whiplash after this and look he gave his team a power play

  23. This is not a flop. I'm a goalie and i know how it feels to get hit in the head. So al of stop making fun of him and go find out yourself how this feels

  24. Were they chanting “shame”. Certain markets don’t deserve a hockey team. Phoenix is definitely one. I still don’t get why Wisconsin doesn’t have a team. Badger hockey is huge. But sure let’s have a team in Miami, Columbus, Phoenix, LA, Anaheim, North Carolina and Tampa. Bettman tried to expand hockey in the states and I respect that. But failed with the cities he used. Hockey has failed twice in Atlanta now.
