Edvinsson, Soderblom and the Yzerplan Red Wings Prospect Pool

Hi everybody and welcome to Episode 188, Season 3 of Red Wings Rant: Where tirades and impassioned pleas about your Detroit Red Wings, finally, have a home.
The boys are taking a break, but that didn’t stop them from making new content! Today we’re going to take an in-depth look around the Detroit Red Wings prospect pool and try to measure how the Yzerplan is working out thus far.

We’ll discuss the Grand Rapids Griffins boys Taro Hirose, Jonatan Berggren and Donovan Sebrango.

We head to the NCAA to talk Red Savage, Robert Mastrisimone, Shai Buium, Anti Tuomisto, and Carter Mazur.

Then we take a trip overseas to talk Eemil Viro, Theodor Neiderbach, Liam Down-Nilsson, Albert Johanson, William Wallinder, Elmer Soderblom, and Simon Edvinsson.

We also take a quick peak in the net at a hot start for Kaden Fulcher and the WHL’s reigning Goalie of the Year Sebastian Cossa.

  1. I’m sick of the red wings being the first for everything in the nhl. First goal, first win@ home etc… it’s annoying

  2. With Yzerman at the helm, the history and great fans, I think Detroit will be a sought after destination for players again.
I really wanted to see Hirose on the roster this year but hopefully soon.
Honestly I’d rather see him up over Zadina or Rass, nothing against those guys.

  3. go Wings! Love the rebuild. No dumb signings. You can literally see a red wave forming. Love these prospects coming. Developing the #2 PP is a must. I'm still seeing the need for a #1 center. Tough to find. Maybe Stevie pulls his biggest move to date and moves some assets and goes and gets a stud. We can't play all the prospects and thankfully winning is coming sooner than later. Lets Go REDWINGS!

  4. they can’t win every game (wings) there not that dam good but there winning regardless pick out your playoff seats early dude 🤷👍

  5. Defensemen prospects looking great as is the goalie. Stevie needs a center, actually 2.
I think Larkin is our 1C and a great 1C but he's a HOFr on the wing.

I'd to see him trade for a center but he's probably gonna be patient until the off-season. It looks like Vrana, Zdina, or Fabbri and a pick might get a good player in a trade or a better draft position, especially for a center. Its very hard not be overconfident in the Wings current draft capabilities.

  6. The D is stacked. The offense is lacking. Yzerman said "we'll add more scoring as time goes on." While Berggren and Soderblom are potential future pieces, I don't think you can say the depth forwards are going to fill those holes. Most of the future forwards we haven't acquired yet.

  7. I remember Red Savages dad, Brian Savage. His dad was a solid player. Hopefully his son is successful.
